I got 2 jpgs to photomerge with CS2. However, there's a 1-2 stop exposure differnce between the 2 images as the merged jpg has a left portion in sunlit condition whereas the right portion had a strong shadow cast. How do I bring out some uniformity and the colour rendition evenly so I can get a proper balanced panoramic image? I'm now stuck with a bright blue and a pale sky together with green and yellowish-looking trees spanning from left to right. Practical CS2 tips appreciated.

You can't really, that's why it's important if you plan to take panoramic shot to lock the exposure (M mode) and the white balance (use a preset) when taking the shots.

If not when you merge them it will look terrible.

yeah,as ST said, try to keep same settings (in full manual for example) so that the camera wont change the metering. then it'll be easier to change exposure in postprocess.
