First of all I would like to congratulate the group who have started this forum. More power to you guys from Bangkok, Thailand.

Ok, just recently I bought myself a 50mm lens. I thought I should try it and share some photos to more experienced people here for their opinions.
Please feel free to share with me your thoughts. I really would like to better my photo taking skills like what most of you here possess.

I like the tone and shadow, but it seems a little over-sharpened and the DoF is too shallow resulting in the left eye being sharp but the right eye being slightly out of focus.
This is what you get when shooting at wide open apertures! To solve the problem you can make sure you keep your camera sensor parallel to the plane of the eyes.

Colour and contrast is good....I can't quite understand why the left eye is OOF, the left cheek seems to be in focus.
Agree with ST...slightly oversharpened.

Sorry for the late reply guys. Been busy with some other stuffs. But I would like to thank everyone for their input. Yes, I guess I would agree with the over sharpness of the image.
Yes, I will try not to get too excited next time and just make sure the sensor is parallel to the eyes for even sharpness.

Thank man. It's a lot clearer now but I think a prefer a more sharper take of this one. Not as sharp as the one I posted though. But thanks for showing me another aspect of it anyway.

I would love to see more contrast on this one I think. Lips kinda flat. But thanks for the effort.

How did you do it Q? Can you add a little sharpness to it? And let see how it looks like. I still don't know how to clean up the faces the way you do. :)

shuttercurve,
i made too many layers i couldnt remember exactly what i hv adjusted...but i do remember i vector mask one layer where i sharpen the eyes and blur the rest (as you can see her eyes are sharper) and added some fake eye lashes at opacity about 15-30% and lots of touch up....
i prefer not to sharpen all the photos as i prefer sharper eyes.. for me i think it is important as the eyes can speak ..(my private preference :drunk: )
hope it helps.:)
