View Full Version : My foodography :)
First series of food! Cova @ The Gardens :)
1. An attempt at the artistic shot of the restaurant name and the dessert - bread pudding
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3235/2324591024_3e098e22d6.jpg
2. This is the mushroom paste which is a mushroom soup but its thicker and you can taste the bits
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2026/2324589270_a71c08e7e5.jpg
3. This is some fish dish. I think it is dory :)

The black dot on the white plate in #1 is very distracting :)
Save for the last pic, the rest all look under.
Oops sorry. Was looking for the food section and it somehow escaped my attention. Thanks for putting it back.
@orionmystery I just noticed the dot! Hrmm and it looks like a missing pixel rather than something on the plate.
Hrmm, they are under? Looks fine on my side. Need to calibrate monitor edi..

Most LCD are too bright by default so when you process your pics they will be underexposed.
Pay attention to the histogram during processing if you don't have a calibrated monitor.

I'm using this to fine tune my LCD monitor, hope it's useful

@gandalfius Thanks!
@ShaolinTiger yep, will need to look at the histogram the next time. Which reminds me to set the brightness on my LCD screen a tad lower when shooting as well.
And here we go, this time it was mom's birthday and we went to a simple Chinese restaurant in Bukit Mayang Mas. It is called Restoran Wong Poh.
The shots weren't too fantastic as there were quite a few people there eager to eat and I had to compose quickly and hope all my other settings were correct. Needless to say, some shots were unfortunately over exposed.
1. Mom says must eat sayur coz its good for health. Only problem is I ate a lot and still don't know what vegetable it is at the end of the day
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3142/2326302469_9a18be9eff.jpg
2. Birthday means noodles! The first is Lala Fried Beehoon!
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2347/2327118180_a2b6ef79c0.jpg
3. Hokkien Fried Mee which is pretty normal. I prefer the one at Jalan 222
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2180/2327119050_ea5b625f4e.jpg
4. This is Frog Leg with Brand's Essence of Chicken sauce. Quite bland actually, not much flavour. I think I focused on the sayur instead :(
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3293/2326304683_dbbd1178b4.jpg
5. This is Butter Prawn. Eh wait, Butter Crabs! Its good stuff and its with cheese. Only gripe is they don't really crush the shells well so have to work more to get to the meat
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2366/2327120362_342311ea31.jpg
6. Another crabby dish, this time its the normal and usual Chilli Crab. Good with fried bread :)
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2346/2327121382_a751910ff0.jpg
7. Marmite pork spareribs. Its sweet, its soft, its yummy!
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2152/2327121822_e5651ac175.jpg
Thats all for now :)

Thanks :) Got Nando's in Japan? :P Or you are back edi?
Anyway, Bakerzin's set lunch at One Utama is quite worth the money:
1. This is a combination of three appetisers - mushroom bruschetta, calamari salad and mushroom soup. The mushroom soup tasted a bit weird :P
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3060/2330550865_04cbfc7eba.jpg
2. Main course was seafood spaghetti and it was huge! Couldn't finish it..
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3197/2330551255_bfcdc7162e.jpg
3. Set lunch means got dessert and it was none other than waffle with icecream! I likey this alot! :)

slurrps! .
slurrps! .
Slurps means time to eat!
Tonight, I went to Sunway Pyramid with Sharon to try out the new Balinese (not that new lah) restaurant. We haven't tried it before and since I brought my gear out, it was good to try new food.
The interior is pretty good and the environment had a nice feel to it:
1. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2374/2382298519_f1ae79d8bd.jpg
The restaurant is quite big with an outside seating area and a corridor that leads from its tiny souvenir shop to the main restaurant area. Walking through here, you can catch a glimpse of the kitchen
2. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2113/2383131998_85e0b0b2a1.jpg
There are a few different areas to enjoy the food. Alfresco dining, or you can sit at the normal dining table or take a seat at one of their special areas, a bit like the Japanese restaurants.
3. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2336/2383132372_2243092ed4.jpg
We ordered two dishes, the first being the Ole Ole Trio, which is a combination of chicken wings, squid rings, satay lipit and assortment of sambals.
4. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2230/2382300099_5bd25507b8.jpg
5. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2347/2382300529_72be7f968b.jpg
We also ordered the Nasi Campur which consists of rice (duhhh), a fried keropok thingy, grilled squid, grilled fish, choice of chicken or beef rendang, assortment of sambals, satay lipit and fried kangkong.
6. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2339/2383134072_64727f9c08.jpg
The food was good, but the price is something you expect to pay at a western restaurant such as Fridays or Chillis. But this place comes highly recommended by me. They serve pasta and western food but what the heck! Go for the Balinese!
I leave you with one final shot of our food for the night:

Heh yep. Was considering the Tokina 12-24mm, before my friend asked me to consider the 10.5mm. Looked at sample shots on pixel peeper and the rest is history :P
Went to Singapore recently (As evident from the zoo set) and visited this lil restaurant called Marmalade Pantry at Palais Renaissance.
Was only holding the 10.5mm at that time so errrmm here goes:
1. Pasta with pork, and pork is good. Sorry for the non-halal endorsement!
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2321/2402716323_a1c8f6366f.jpg
2. Crabmeat spaghetti. I love crab, I love pasta, so the combination is thumbs up!
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2093/2402716965_bcf681d875.jpg
3. This was one of my fav of the night. Wanted a second helping of it :P Chilled soba with grilled salmon. The salmon was nicely done :)
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2184/2403546228_41109cbe6f.jpg
4. Must be healthy so got some salad for the dose of vege goodness. Ada fried mozarella cheese somemore!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3225/2402718461_10b77f4ede.jpg
5. My best meal of the night, Foie Gras!

Nice shots, you could have kept the ISO down though...you definitely don't need 1/100 for 10.5mm! 1/15 or max 1/30 should be fine.
1/320 is too fast for 50mm as well, can easily drop to 1/80 and still get sharp pics.
That would have given you ISO400 rather than ISO1600.

That is true. The ISO could have been lowered and there will be less noise. No idea why I went with such high ISO.
On to more food, which is probably at high ISO..sigh..
6. A bit of vegetable to keep the meal balanced, soft shell crab with salmon skin salad :)
