A replacement D50 (older generation :P), cropping and no noise reduction may further contribute to noise.

Ouch, sorry to hear that :(. Are your gears still new?

My D40 is 1 1/2 years old, but my flash SB600 is still within warranty. Hopefully the repair bills is within my budget.

Try to number your images if you can. Also bigger image, up to 800 pixel if possible. The 2nd image in that post looks like an assassin bug, but it's not too clear in your image :(. Maybe that spider is not wolf spider but lynx spider?

You should've just come. Just bring a roll of TP along :D. I think CM3500 is a good choice. DCR250 is one of the 4 magnification filters in the set. Please correct me if i am wrong, Lordmint :D

Haha.. I didn't nuke him laaa.. the beetle could be a participant in 'The Contender - Insect Version' and just finished a match :P

CM3500 is a set of 3 glasses. 6x, 12x and 24x. Too much fun and stress using this these glasses. Fun coz you'll get to see very small details, stress coz you'll go thru hell trying to get the subject in focus. It's a good practice tho. :D

I read your comment abt the DCR 150 & 250 on magnification and working distance. Based on your extensive experience, would really appreciate your recommendation on the type of Raynox to buy for the type of dragonflies, bugs, damselflies, etc shooting.
CM 35000 CM 3000 or DCR 250, etc.. don't want to make a costly mistake..
Anyway love your macro shooting style and pics...

which lenses from CM 3500 can be stacked and what's your recommendation after using the various Raynox from 250 to 3500? Any other options?
Will using a tripod/monopod help in the difficulty in focussing or even a focussing rail that I've seen on Yamiya mounted on tripod.(I know this makes the photographer hampered in mobility..) well anything to get good shots laa.
looks like OM and you guys prefer handheld?
I don't think I can manage with the weight of my camera.

Macropixman, CM3500 consists of 3 glasses as LM mentions. 6x, 12x and 24x diopter. DCR250 is 8x diopter only.

My magnificaiton tests were with cropped senser (1.5X) coupled with SP90. DCR250 gives a magnification of 1.7 : 1. But on your FF and 105mm...i really don't know. My advice would be stick to 1:1 for now and try out DCR250 or CM3500 when we go outing again in the near future.

Even 1:1 takes quite a bit of getting used to, :D

A few more shots...last batch :)

Very nice shots from everyone.

I do think that with the number of trips and successful captures, we can actually start a coffetable book on the bugs found in Gasing Hill. And get someone to sell it with the profits going to the "Save Bukit Gasing" campaign.

Any takers?
