While I was busy shooting the spider, my mother (who noticed me shooting) brought in a baby mantis! She captured the baby mantis and told me to shoot the mantis :)
#5 - The baby mantis was camera shy at first. So, only managed a 'rear' shot. Tamron SP90 @ 1:1

#6 - Still malu-malu.. hands covering the face. SP90 + CM3500 24x

#7 - Suddenly, no more malu-malu. Biting her antenna. Posing manja la tu..

#8 - Now, biting her nails..

All spider and mantis images were not cropped. PP - Levels, USM and resize only. And the spider and baby mantis were not harmed in any way, nor exposed to hazardous liquids. Both of them were released to the wild after the shoot.

Have you found out what mag you get with 24x glass on SP90?

lets try to keep our macro pictures as natural as possible, which includes not attempting to change the original location where the tiny creature was first found, 10m away from home is like walking from Kedah to JB for these small fellas.
The comparison of the Jumping spider and the match stick is well done. Kinda funny too

From my experience, looks like 2.5x approaching 3x - 4x region, its good that light can still reach

The mantis was placed back to the plant where he was found. Spidey was sent to a plant nearby coz he was found on top of my car. And I used off-camera flash triggered using the "PT" RF trigger. :)

Excellent work as usual, my Lord.
I do think that you should start breeding mantis, just like that guy in Fred Mirands's. Then we can have a shoot out in your house.

sp90 + raynox250 enough for me ...
CM3500 only use for death or half death bug (joking) but you need need patient to use this CM3500

Oooo so high tech.. I almost bought 2 pocket wizards, but went for a pair of wimberly brackets instead..

Yea, true. It's light but the setup is quite long, especially when the SP90 is extended to 1:1. Definitely needs an off-camera flash - wired or wireless. :)
Tell us when you plan to visit KL so we can plan for an outing during your visit. :)
cool close up with the mag glass. never thought to go that extreme.
btw the spider is Siler semiglaucus which is not poisonous to human. infact none of malaysian spiders are.
