Two good shots, Kurt.

Since you are going to butt park tomolo, you will have no problem shooting close up at 1:1 or more. The butts are friendly and used to people. Many times, I managed to spend more than 3 minutes with a single butterfly whose just too busy feeding on the flowers.

Butterfly park isn't so enjoyable as wild though as most butterflies are kind of tattered and old looking.

I don't plan to go 1:1 on butts :). Only 3 minutes? I spent like 20 minutes with this butt, altogether!

Broom stick loh :)

1:1 is quite easy now :)...and anything less than 1:1 ...just shoot only :D. Just kidding...butterflies are big, so there's no need to go 1:1

It's not about getting as close as possible, for butterflies 1:1 is not very attractive.

Remember photography is about light primarily, the angle and quality of the light, after that is composition.

Don't always try and get as close as possible, unless you want to be a scientist not a photographer :D

agree with you on that.. its just that the urge to go 1:1 is very high on me since i'm still new in macro and like to see as much detail as i can.. its like a disease.. :D

heheeh i understand, my case 2.5:1 , shooting 1:1 left me with so much space.

me too :D

I prefer a combination of both, science photography. :D :run_away:
