View Full Version : Earth Hour 2008 - Sydney

Earth Hour is an international event that asks households and businesses to turn off their lights and non-essential electrical appliances for one hour on the evening of 29 March at 8 pm local time until 9 pm to promote electricity conservation and thus lower carbon emissions. It may also help reduce light pollution, and in 2008, coincides with the beginning of National Dark Sky Week in the USA. ( wiki )

Hey guys ... Well only through wiki I found out that Sydney was the one initiated Earth Hour ... And the world joined ... So since i'm Sydney I guess I should shoot some pics yea ? :P

All I wanted to say is ... IT'S BULLCRAP ... if u wiki ... u can see the pics are all so bright .. nothing like what you would expect ... If you then google "Sydney Morning Herald" .. the aussie newspaper ... they have a super dark photo ... smart photographer indeed .. he took a close up pic in the city from a tall tower ... his composition was only like 3 to 4 buildings .. he probably choosed the darkest 4 building lol ... and he probably made it underexposed too lol ... Anyway it's just a joke really ... Here's the pic

Last year was aussie event, this year was world event. i wonder wat other country that took part look like :P

just FYI, Penang was suppose to take part in it... but somehow,
it didn't ..

Then no need to drive ? Yea same thing happened at the Harbour bridge .. people need to drive thats why they nvr off the bottom part ..

Oh yea ... hmm you can visit nowpublic.com ... i think they are doing some report ... btw they asked for my photo to be used in their website :O

Btw guys ! I'm juz a n00b and nvr got approached by people who was interested in my photo. However i got an flickr email today that some website wants to use my photo .. i've opened a separate thread in the chit chat section ... hope someone can help me there ... what should i do ? give them free or ask for something .. not too sure . thnx in advance !

nope, my fren told me that Motorola world wide is shutting down all light for an hours for this event

oooo good good hehe .. but seriously .. how much can they save =.=" U see the stupid Opera House .. On light on top there for what ... everyday should be Earth Hour la lol ... waste electricity only ...

Wahaha bro ... thats the point la :P Earth Hour means no light !! But that's not during Earth Hour anyway .. the bridge is still lighten up
