Sharp and nice but too close IMHO, not very artistic pictures.

Flash is way too harsh too, gotta kill those reflections! Can search the forum for milk bottle or coke can diffuser.

The details in full size is amazing, and the settings are spot on, I think it may be slightly sharper than my MP-E65 :p

Have you calculated how many x magnification was that ? looks 2 - 3x to me

I don't know how to calculate because I plug in the Tamron pro x1.4 tele-converter, EF-25 extension tube then the lens. I felt is around 2x maybe...??

Frankly speaking I ordered this Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro lens from YL, but after tested some shots, I felt it doesn't suite me at the moment, So I pick up the 50mm instead.

1. It's heavy
2. The lens diameter are too big for normal flash, it will block the light source, unless using macro flash or the lighting setup like yours....??

But this lens are really sharp for macro or portraits.

btw thanks again..

At close to 1:1, the flash will be blocked by the lens for sure. Use a coke can diffuser or a styrofoam plate diffuser.

Me too are searching for the best lighting setup for myself.... I hope the DIY I did last 2 days is good enough, tomorrow I can do some shooting before going down to manjung.

If all failed then I have to get the macro flash later....$$$$ again......:P

Not recommended for macro, lambency will cause massive light loss.

Its suppose to inspire you to build your own diffuser :p LordV (google him) makes his diffuser out of a simple coke bottle and tissue paper as diffuser.
