maybe try to use Spot metering...

if I were you...
I use ISO800, low shutter speed ~ Rear sync (Nikon) OR 2nd Curtain (Canon)...
without flash...
but again, the noise level really has something to do with the camera which you are using. more high end cameras have better noise handling in low light condition ~~ that's being one of the reason those cameras are more expensive...

higher ISO is one of the solution to low light, but the drawback is it will create some noise like this, unless u r using D300 or D3 la! Aperture 5.6 is ok,1/60 could b risky at 55mm bcoz ur cam is using crop sensor. thus 1/80 is safer to avoid handshake.
and like Xavierchan said it could b due to wrong metering so ur cam don't get the right exposure. Also check ur cam flash metering affraid that u might hv adjusted the default flash exposure.
r u using external flash or build in flash?

:) OK noted,I will try at 1/80 next time and would also try the spot /center metering.I am using external flash by the way, is the ttl metering accurate?
thanks

The colour looks soft, would it be my setting of using potrait colour?
While the flash turn out to be harsh, would it be the flash output to high, I am using TTL by the way. :?

It's not the colour, it's the clarity/sharpness.
It could be caused by:
Shutter speed to slow
Focus point not accurate
Lens not sharp
Bad technique
Lens not stopped down for sharper apeture
High ISO
Not sharpening after down-sizing
Incorrect processing technique

You need to diffuse the flash to get flattering effects on a human, if not they will look shiny and nasty with small eyes.
You can also tilt your flash up, use a piece of paper as a bouncecard and compensate your flash accordingly.
Thanks for the advice,I would need to try the manual setting next time.:)
