five pix.. exposure compensation from +2, +1, 0, -1, -2.. so how is the effect?
3 pix i dun think it is enough to do HDR..

I think HDR should be taken in context.
In this case, it's just bracketting to get the right exposure of a "still life" subject.
A more worthy subject which requires the (challenging) use of HDR would be to take a landscape or a interior pix with several F-stop difference.
Then blend all the photos together so that the entire image gets the right exposure (as our eyes would see it).
Just my 2 cts only. :)

i second astroboy.
perhaps try on different subject, i.e. landscape on mid day? that'd be a better HDR test. :D

Yah HDR is suited to certain subjects, you have to understand the purpose of something to get the most out of it.
Blindly doing stuff doesn't help. The point of HDR is to render a picture where the dynamic range is much greater than the camera cam capture, for example RAW can capture around 9 stops, Jpeg around 7 stops.
You need to find a picture where it's impossible to take without the highlights blowing and the foreground totally underexposed.
It's best suited to architectural interiors and landscapes in bright light where the foreground and background have a large difference (6-8 stops in some cases).
You can check out my HDR set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/shaolintiger/sets/72157594184780820/) for some things I found suitable for this technique.

I'm not saying these are good, but they are examples of where HDR can be used well.

i hv noted tht HDR is good on shooting water ...u know stuff like sea and river. it gives you a softer water... just like using slow shutter speed. beside water, other moving subject is not so nice on HDR... is it me?
ykgen, there just isn't the oomph from your try here that one usually gets when seeing a HDR pic. Maybe it's the subject and environment. Nice try anyway.
ShaolinTiger, that's a nice set!
