hmmm consistently nice composition but seems the focus not on the soup but the mint leaves?!?

THanks for commenting...Yes, the cheesecake was very yummy, I made it myself, also made the other 2 dishes.

Well the nuts are not for the guests to dip into the garlic dip, just for them to nibble on separately, and they seem to love it that way, and I can save space too!

The focus on the parsley is intentional. I was using a Tilt Shift lens 90mm for selective focus and I could only choose to focus on one point. The colour of the soup is dominant enough, so I thought I do not need to focus on the soup. I have others in the same series that I've focused on the soup, turned out that the one focused on the parsley leaves is better, in my opinion.

Nice shots, the photos were already compressed as I see some loss of quality after compression.

Nice compo but your pictures lack the oomph...... Maybe its because of the colour profile. If you had shot in AdobeRGB you'll have to convert to sRGB for uploading to web.

agree with noordin. the compo is great. just the color a bit off. the color does not make the photo looks appealing.

i like the compo as well. but u need to explore the lighting technique. for most of your shots, the lighting is from the back. imho, you could try a softbox, or multiple light source. that should give the subject that shine (or ommph!) needed.

I always only shoot using a softbox and actually with 2 tungsten lightings with softboxes and reflectors/mirror. I just didnt adjust the colour contrast and not photoshopped they look like that straight from the camera, that's why. Sometimes when I shoot using natural lighting I am lazy to use the reflectors or multiple lightings as my lighting studio is downstairs and I shoot upstairs. These photos are severely compressed (almost 1/10 of the original size and quality) because of the requirements of shutterasia and the image and colour quality are compromised to a great extent...

But I am always trying to be better, judging from the fact that I do not have ANY form of training in food photography nor food styling, I picked up all the skills myself in 9 months only so I'm still learning...

Where did you get that idea? We ask for 800px images at 400kb file size, that's almost uncompressed. As for the colour as long as your profile is converted to sRGB for the web there should be no colour loss or shift.

Your files are less than 100kb.

Agree your light could be better controlled, controlling your light properly impacts colour and contrast more than compression and resizing :)
