You know how guys prefer some stuff bigger and some girls prefer some stuff bigger... but when it comes to certain things like the brolly I'm wondering are bigger brollys are better?

What are the pros and cons of using a bigger brolly?
What about a smaller brolly?

Today when I went to Microsonic to get a monopod (excellent service!) and I questioned Jason if he had bigger brollys, in this case no. He then explained to me that bigger brollys are harder to control. Is it true?

I've only got 1 size brolly, so I cant really compare. What do the sifus here think? :)

There's no better or worse - just depends what you want.

Bigger brolly = bigger light source.

Most brollies are same size though (43") - if you want bigger use a softbox, octobank or strip light.

for small flash, somewhere around 32" would be sufficient

If i m shooting interiors or a group of 5-6 pax using strobes, for eg, I tend to use the largest brolley for softer light spread across a wider acrea.

If I am shooting a head-shot or 1 pax using SB800 for eg, a small to medium size brolley is sufficient.

Different sizes for different needs.

eerr... if i want to make the pupils shines (lights in the pupils) should i use smaller brolley?

that will depend on your strobe position rather than your brolley size

Are brolly universally mount ? Or do i require an adaptor to do so. Assuming i'm using a canon speedlight & i want to use a profoto brolly, can i juz hook it up somehow or do i need a special adaptor?
