This message is directed to SA MOD. I noticed sometimes mod edit someone thread due to improper posting etc. I suggest the mod should leave a comment/reason if you edit someone post. IMHO, that's a manners.

I am not sure what Reason(s) you're refering to, but let me speak from my experience. Take for example: Images not inline.
Whenever i see that, these are what i do:
1. Give infraction
2. At the same time, PM him with my standard message complete with the link to "how to attach your images inline".
3. Most of the times, it's just ignored, although some do respond and actually read the instruction and fix the images not inline issue.
4. If it's still not fixed after a while, i'd go on to fix it.
Should I add:
5. state the reason of editing? I'm not sure..

Another one is when the thread is locked, or deleted.
If deleted, please PM us the reason.

in my experience, i only edit someone's thread only on "image not inline". sometimes i deleted some posts due to off-topic. modified contents? never. and i would leave a footnote on the reason why i did that.
at the same time, this whole flow must work with the co-operation of two sides. i'm pretty sure that more that 90% members never go through the guidelines. and some assumed that SA have the same policy as other forums.

Words are never edited, posts are only deleted or merged.
The only editing would take place when images are put inline or quotes are broken/nested and an infraction given, the reason for editing is contained within the infraction and all terms can be found clearly stated in the Rules. (http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/rules.php)
If you knew how many hundred of crappy posts/double posts/wrong sections/spam and other nonsense each of dealt with each day you would realise we don't have time to nicely explain to each person.
If everyone READ THE RULES and adhered to them there would be no editing going on anyway.
Anyway please give a specific example and links to the post/thread in question so I can check the logs and see what occurred and the reason.

That's true, I have two post deleted with no notification. But that's because I was having problem with the image and flickr keeps changing it. I edited N times on it and was eventually deleted by (??), No idea who deleted it.
But like I said, that's always a reason....... yes they didn't notify which is a bit off, but hey, there's always two side of the story, and after I read this post, I understand.

1. Deleted: http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/showthread.php?p=75465#post75465
Reason was only given when I asked. I accept the reason, and requested my post to be merged.
2. Locked: http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=61
Why is thread is locked? Just because it's not a real "kid". :P :rasta:
3. OM, I understand your frustration in non-labelled pictures. Can we all boycott such posts, by not giving any comments at all. ;)

Read the challenge regulations and check your picture, no it's not because it's not a real 'kid'.
But yes, please feel free to boycott non-inline posts :D

Aiyah, Shuttergod, just tell me the reason, rather than having me keep on guessing.
I'm open to reasons, not arguing here.
1. Date- check
2. Picture dimension - check
3. Post processing - not basic?
:)

My exif is still intact. Firefox with plug-in.
Now, I'm really confused. :?

Ah mine doesn't show it (FxIF), downloaded and checked and it is there.
I don't know then, there's no reason listed why it was locked.
Anyway this is OT here :)

I have some threads where u "combined" my 2 images under 1 posting instead of 1 image per post.
I am not so sure what difference it makes (since there is no extra bandwidth placed on SA as these are external links) but thanks for cleaning up my threads. :)
But for the life of me, what is an "infraction"? Some kind of demerit points?
:?

Up to 20 external images can be linked in one post, rather than 1 per post which would lead to 5 per page..and very slow viewing.
5 images can also be attached per post giving 25 images per page, it's just a usability/readability thing :)
As for infractions it's an easy way for us to let people know they did something wrong, rather than having to send a PM manually we can just click the infraction button and choose the reason from a defined list (double post, wrong section, off topic etc).
It's semi-automated so the system will then send a PM to the person with the reason.
The current system allows for 3 infractions before a 3 day ban, 5 infractions within 30 days will get a one month ban.
You can read more here:

IMO, it make no differences. Loading 1 image or 20 images in a post can be fast if you have a fast connection. My current situation surfing with slow bandwidth, I see no difference :(

1 image per post = 5 images per page, so you have to click next page to view more images.
That's slower whatever connection you are on.
More images on one page = better.

Aiyoh jayhan, you had asked me a question, and I answered you directly. Pun or no pun intended, that's your call.
Rather than deflecting my questions with issue on sarcasm, can you offer me an answer??
