To be a full member, a minimum donation of RM15 is required. In return, you will receive:

1. Lowest prices at the dealers we support
Q1 : Is this for selected item?
Q2 : Must flash member card to get best pricing?

2. First priority at events and shoots organised by SA or in conjunction with the forum
Q1 : How often events and shoots organised by SA?
Q2 : YTD how many events and shoots organised?
Q3 : Other than having priority, is there special rate for members?
Q4 : How SA mod monitor and control this?

3. First priority in any future collaborations we might have with manufacturers or distributer in the future
Q1 : How often?
Q2 : Any done so far?

4. First priority for in-house events like model shoots or classes

A: Usually that's the case for all discount / loyalty cards, nit just ShutterAsia

2. First priority at events and shoots organised by SA or in conjunction with the forum
Q1 : How often events and shoots organised by SA?
A: As and when we are free to do so. I am planning one with a few "named" suppliers. More info when it comes.
Q2 : YTD how many events and shoots organised?
A: I have done 2 personally so far
Q3 : Other than having priority, is there special rate for members?
A: Usually
Q4 : How SA mod monitor and control this?
A: If organised by us, not a problem. If organised by other parties, is based on trust and their word.

3. First priority in any future collaborations we might have with manufacturers or distributer in the future
Q1 : How often?
A: ShutterAsia is fairly new, just over 1 year. We hope to build continue to build better realtionships with manufacturers and distributors. But this takes time. Hopefully, we will be privy to first pics in the future.
Q2 : Any done so far?
A: Unofficially... yes

On a side note:
As with anyone familiar with the discount/loyalty/member card or voucher industry. Most of these are base on trust between the Issuer of the card (eg SA) and the stores. I have worked in a companies that deals directly in this line in the past and even contracts are not worth the paper it's printed on... So all of this is based on trust and relationships between us and the dealers we promote. Hopefully its a win win situation for everyone.

From time to time, we will add or subtract dealers (if they are not 'productive') from our list. We will also be continually looking for new things and activities for our members.

Apart from member discounts, dealers also sponsor some of our programmes. For example YL Camera donates a RM200 voucher for the Monthly Photo Contest. Yamiya and Clik n Snap have also sponsor prizes for any official shoots done by SA They donated to the Penang No Chimping street shoot). When we are more free to do more shoots, we can approach them for more stuff for our members.

Also, one of the major reasons for starting the "member programme" is to raise funds for maintainence. It's not alot. RM15, but if most people who find this forum useful, it all helps.

Currently I have paid up-front for the printing of the stickers and Cards, ST has paid for most of the running costs. A few other members have helped out here and there. We want to start collecting funds as we will have to move to a dedicated server soon as our membership base is growing larger.

On a whole the main reason why this forum was started was to benefit the member base... not to make a profit. We try to do things for the benefit of the members, so that people will feel at home, contribute and share knowledge with one another. We also hope people will make friends and fellowship with each other on and off the forum, as we all share a common interest.

Honestly cost of printing the member stuff goes in the thousand... ST has also spent quite a bit on the setup and running costs. Plus all the countless hours put in by the mods to keep the forum active, alive and smooth without any rewards (sometimes cursed), again for the benefit of the members.

I hope everyone enjoys the site, continues to contribute support and join in the activities organised by SA

Just to share my one-time personal experience.

I had went to a SA retailer shop and asked the price of a lens.

The retailer mentioned RM A.

Then I asked what about being a SA member with SA membership card.

The retailed still mentioned the same price, RM A. That is the best price and no further discount as margin is low.

So, my SA membership card is still kept in my wallet, waiting one day to be flashed/used. :P
