One of the subject we all like to take picture is Model and we are always impressed by the work of a magazine cover girl, and we all realized that some touch up has been applied to the original picture actually. Want to know how they do it? Here, I attached 2 pictures, the first one is the original picture and the second is the final result cover girl picture. Take this as a challenge, try to PP the first one, and produce the same result of 2nd picture..or a better one if you are capable!
BEFORE THAT, admin, I got these pictures, no, I extracted these picture from a PSD file I downloaded from a source which I cant recall now, so I cant credit them to the original maker. If you think it is improper, please delete this thread.

Dude you could have found out the originator in 2 seconds, it's in the freaking filename.
Have a little respect for other people's hard work please and credit the original author.
"Name: Retusche___Calvinize___by_CalvinHollywood1.jpg"
You can easily find his DeviantArt with quick Google Search (http://www.google.com.my/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=Jm6&q=CalvinHollywood&btnG=Search&meta=).
CalvinHollywood on deviantART (http://calvinhollywood.deviantart.com/)
I have put the credit in your post.
I personally love the fact that this guy shares the PSD files so you can see exactly how to do it, that's real confidence!
Thanks for the heads-up sonyalpha, but please respect people's hard work in the future.

Sorry for that, I did mention they are not my works, i rename one the file by adding "1" at the end because it was extracted from the original PSD file, and I keep the original file name for the other picture just to show the before and after.
Thank you very much for your help and will take note next time. I strongly respect other ppl hard work.
Thank you.

I accepted this challenge and here's the results of my touch up, or, in a more internet accepted term - make over. Lots of work has gone into this result. They are basically some skin cleaning (I love to retain some skin texture rather than having the porcelain smooth look which I think is very very unnatural), adding some make ups and highlights on the model's features, and also some tweakings on her "imperfection". Tell me what you guys think.
Of course, the picture is credited to Calvin Hollywood.

this is another master piece work. yours skin is natural, makeup is "heavier", and the eyes overall looks sharper. few points to share,
1. the makeup is bit heavy for my taste, especially the nose and lips. i see very little space left out of eye shallow just below the eyebows.
2. the yellowish background reflects some fringing on the both side of the face and shoulder, make it little imperfect.
The picture is credited to originator, but the final work is yours!

Thanks for the feedback. I always get this "overdone" issue :P probly due to my monitor settings which make it always one tad more overdone cuz it looks all ok here. :P but then again, what's perfection when there's no imperfection? lol...

Here's my effort, I also tried to retain some natural texture for the skin as I don't like the completely plastic look.

ST.. i like the lips color.. that's really nice.. it would be nicer if u lighten the eyeshadow color but 50% :)
btw, mind sharing how u put on the eyeshadow :?

sharon :
there are a few ways you can do this. here's one:
1. select the region you wanna add color using lasso or any other methods you are comfy with (eye shadow area and cheekbones area). Feather it by say 20-35 pixels cuz we dont wanna have a harsh defined line that differentiates the make up.
2. on a lew copied layer, simply just use the brush tool (diameter must be bigger than the selected zone, in this case about 350px, hardness 0%, and opacity set to 20%) with preset color of your choice, and move over and dab on the selected zones. Dont worry on overdoing it and instead of becoming pink, its reddish - this can be rectified.
3. And finally, with the slightly overdone makeup, all you gotta do is to lower the opacity of the top layer (the one which you applied the red/dark pink makeup onto) until you get something that suits your taste. Its normally about 20-30% so you get a nice skin texture revealed underneath the makeup colors.
Hope this helps.

My take..
Prefer to let it remain looking natural (as in with little makeup hehe)
I lengthened her neck, straightened her lips, gave her a right brow lift as well as straightened and enlarged her right eye. Of course, the usual skin smoothing, whitening/sharpening of the eyes...gave the lips some colour.
So much for natural aye lol

Maybe I should actually attached along my BEFORE & AFTER results. Here it is:
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/199/513582978_01039aad90_o.jpg
Apart from the usual adjustments and skin complexion adjustments were done, I've also "rectified" some other physical "flaws". The ones which you guys might notice are :
1. The lips, namely on the right corner. It was pulled up to be on the same level as the left corner. Apart from this, I also added some "fullness" to her lips... :P
2. Eyes were made slightly larger to get that "fresher" look.
3. Her chin was made slightly pointed to eleminated the right bottom uneven corner.
4. I made her neck slightly longer too! :P

Wow, you guys are crazy good.
Since i'm no good in PP , I'll share what I noticed so far.
In CalvinHollywood's retouch,
he trimmed the right side of the chin which was a bit squarish/crooked.
Also, the bridge of the nose had been made narrower. I've actually seen this done in KLCC, where Loreal (or was it Clinique?) had this public make-up and magazine-cover-photo session for its users. I was observing the photog asst PP-ing the photos.
The Calvin guy also reduced the size of pupil on the right eye(from viewers' perpective) so that both pupil is of the same size.
He also added more lip to the right side of the upper lip so that left and right sides are more symetrical.
And reduced the lower lip so that the upper and lower lips are more balanced.
The attention to detail is amazing.

whoaaah kim!!
dats one lips i wouldnt wanna kiss man!!

i think u should tone down on the "redness" of the lipgloss and make it a little blueish/purpleish hue to suit the eye shadow... then cun. very nice work on the eye shadow mix-up part :)

@Sharon
Thank you... i am very busy at all but i ll try my best*g*
@Nikon
I soft the skin with the highpass filter
thats a very to explain cause my engslih isent very good.
if you do a combination of highpass and blend mode softlay you can soft the skin
befor you have to invert your picture
thats the basic step of all
