A competition, themed 50 Years of Nation Building, is being organised by the MCA's 50th Merdeka Anniversary Celebration Committee to cherish the peace, success and prosperity achieved by the nation. The co-organisers of the event are Hanxing Academy of Journalism and Communication Professional Photography, Federation of Commercial Photographic Society Malaysia, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur Photography Association and Soka Gakkai.
MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the committee also hoped to promote the spirit of Rakyat Malaysia through photography. He said the objective of the event was to capture glimpses of Malaysia's 50 years of nationhood and to instil the concept of national unity. “We should appreciate what the country has achieved through the co-operation of people from different races and all walks of life,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
Participants can focus on five subjects – national unity, heritage, multi-culturalism, environmental community and new village development – when taking the photographs. The grand prize winner will take home RM3,000 in cash and prizes worth RM3,000.
Forms can be obtained from Tingkat 10, Wisma MCA, 163, Jalan Ampang, 50450 KL or visit www.mca.org.my (http://www.mca.org.my/)
All photographs must be sent to the same address before 5pm on June 29.
For more information on the competition, call MCA Publicity Bureau at 03-2161 8044 (ext 428) or fax 03-2161 3051.
