This image makes me very happy..

Why you might ask?

Well for one I really like it, and for two a complete stranger from Pennsylvania in the USA messaged me and asked to buy a print.

John C in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania here. Would you care to sell a print of your Come To Me image, or perhaps sell me the use of the file so that I may print it? It's a great image, in my view, and I'd like to display a print.

Do you have the means of printing monochrome?

john_c@xxx.comAs I explained I can't provide a print in Malaysia, I agreed to sell him the Jpegs for print for personal use.

He paid up front and I have sent him the files, he has said he will send me a picture of the print hanging in his house when he's printed and framed it.

He seems very happy with the transaction.

This is my first real print sale, my first overseas sale, and my first real accolade.

Is it ok to feel proud?

I hope this is the first of many to come.

QQ. the dough ST gets is not enough for a spanking new helicopter la, although you might see ST with some brand new gear soon i guess :P

Thanks man! No celebration, not that much money haha. He found the image at Fred Miranda forum (http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/), I post there sometimes when I have pics I really like.

Thanks Jay, I hope I motivate everyone to push themselves to the next level, when you improve you WILL get recognised! Yeah the money I got enough for any new gear really, maybe a couple of lightstands and a brolly or a second hand SB28.

I mean i've never sold any photo and i don't have the slightest idea on how to sell prints either. Is it common practice to sell the file itself? Would it be more expensive if the buyer would opt for the file rather than a print itself? Just asking Sir Shaolin....

Yes that's right, but he said it's for personal use, I would check for the intended usage before selling and adjust the price accordingly. If he prints a load then sells them, more power to him. It would be fairly common to sell the file, like Stock Photos you buy the file, not a physical print, then you can do whatever you like with it. The thing is you aren't selling exclusive use, so you can sell it to as many people as you like AND still sell prints. So it's no loss really. I wouldn't recommend giving the RAW file however. If they were in Malaysia I would sell a framed print.
