As raved about by Ken Rockwell on his site, http://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/compacts/a550.htm and also given a "highly recommended" by DPReview and just about every site that has reviewed it, this pocket sized Canon runs on 2 AA batteries (Alkaline or rechargeable, depends on how heavily you will use it) 7.1 Megapixels, lots of detail! 4x zoom, instead of the usual 3x. Uses SD cards, and is SDHC compliant.
The menus are terrific, one touch to change White Balance, Flash, ISO (up to 800). Glass viewfinder as well as the very bright 2" LCD screen. Much nicer to use than my FZ30 was, in fact :)
I sold my Panasonic too fast, without planning my DSLR purchase, so I bought this to maintain my picture taking. I have to say it has been a revelation! But now I have my Pentax DSLR, so will sell this and take the loss.
Truly mint condition, in box, a few sets of alkaline batteries thrown in, an excellent quality belt pouch/carrying bag, all books, paperwork, software etc. And I'll throw in 2x Toshiba 256MB SD cards as well.
The ideal second (or third!) portable camera, or as a gift.
