I was having discussion on SB and found out tht lots of us here are interested in it.

I m thinking of MO it but havent got the price etc, would be glad if anyone can contribute info.

not sure freaky... i asked one of my fren here, according to him those industrial tape can be used too...but just hv to make sure its the top grade ytpe... in fact he reco. me 3M gaffer tape.

Pete got for us from Singapore. I don't think you can get them locally. This is a slow moving item so I don't think dealers are interested to stock.

Q, wot d'you need gaffer tape for, please?
Local film crews use a few types, and they look like any that're available locally ... just varying colours and widths ...

i m looking for a camera tape instead of gaffer (camera tape = 1 inch wide; gaffer = 2 or more inches wide)

Yes, if one wants to get this, must be very specific in insisting for the Apollo brand.

The other brands like 3M etc just don't cut it as they are not specially made for the photo-video industry.

sharon, tape it all over the camera body to protect the camera.

the good thing bout this tape is tht, when you tear it out it wont leave any sticky residue on your camera and will give you tht 'brand new' camera look :D

When i buy a new camera or lens, i will gaffer them. Reasons:

1. It helps to prevent against scratches & knocks
2. The black tape blends perfectly with the camera
3. I can tape and re-tape them (the Apollo tape does not leave a sticky residue, can't speak for other brands)
4. When travelling in 3rd world countries, i would even gaffer up the camera logo so as to make the camera less attractive and prevent against dust. A would-be robber can spot a shiny new camera a mile away
5. I have some friends who even gaffer their tripods which is a good idea, I think. Bare metal would feel very cold to the touch in cold countries (sometimes even give frostbite) so gaffered tripod legs are easier to grip
6. And lastly, I use the gaffer tape to tape colour gels to my strobes (they are heat-resistant) and studio cables. Yes, you can also use them to tape together audio or hi-fi cables at home

Apollo gaffer tape is 2" X 55m in length, Non-slippery & Non-sticky residue type.
Available in Black (or white-limited quantity upon special request)

It's a really a lot. At that length u could gaffer a few camera bodies/lenses/tripod and probably use a few years depending on how often you re-gaffer your gear. For hygiene purpose (especially if u have sweaty palms), it's best to re-gaffer after a few months.

The price for the MO in S'pore is SGD40 or SGD45 for postage within S'pore.

I can meet the seller in SG and bring the tape up to KL for you at SGD45 (approx RM103) per pc. For those of u OUTSIDE KL, u have to bear the additional charges payable for PosLaju.

Pls note. Gaffer tapes and camouflage tapes are two entirely different things. Camo tape is more for aesthetic use.
