I drive a nissan xtrail 2.0 car. I wonder if it is worth converting it to NGV? The few things i wonder...
1. How much more cheaper is NGV with petrol
2. If i fit in a tank in my car, how much can that tank take me in terms of mileage? that is how many KM can a full NGV tank take me?
3. Is it true that NGV causes lost in power thus loss in performance thus not all that economical ?
4. How does one switch from NGV to petrol ? eg if we ran out of ngv gas while driving will my car automatically switch to petrol again or do i have to do a manual switch or what?
anyone driving a ngv car can help me out? else i guess i kena guna my father's 'cub chai' !! :run_away::run_away::run_away:

1. 83 cents per litre vs 2.73 per litre
2. One tank will take you about 150km and cost around RM8-10 to fill.
3. Slightly less power but if you have budget you can fit a more powerful system (direct injection etc.) most basic system doesn't have this but NGV can be as powerful.
4. There is a select switch, I guess if run out it will auto-switch to petrol again. Not sure tho.

Not a suitable timing for now to install the NGV system to your car.
The price of the whole system was shot sky high after the petrol price increased.
My fren is using on his 2.0 lit car, a full tank(biggest tank currently) can fill RM18 of NGV and can run around 150- 180kms.
The best is to stop ur car and turn off the engine then only switch the petrol and NGV systems in between.

only 150km? so if i go back to my home town in batu pahat johor, the distance is about 250m...that means i have to make sure there is a station some where in between ( most likely melaka!!) ,,and that also means that i will probably have to pump the tank every 3 days or so as I average about 400km per 8-10 days!! :? hmmm...wonder if it is really worth it as i would really have to readjust my driving and refueling habits....but one good thing is that there are 2 petronas ngv stations within 5 minutes of my house in ss3...

AFAIK, when you run NGV, petrol fuel consumption is higher when you switch to petrol mode.. they install an adapter to the air intake hose to minimize air intake.. and if i'm not mistaken, this is to avoid the mixture being to LEAN and cause overheating, so when you switch to petrol mode, the mixture will automatically become a RICH mixture causing higher fuel consumption.. but this is based on a carburetor system.. EFI cars have sequential system which injects directly into to the inlet manifold and i'm not sure if they have that adapter thingy at the air intake hose or not.. so if you run gas most of the time you can save but if you go outstation a lot where you cannot get GAS pumps then you might suffer on higher petrol consumption (if the same thing applies to injection system like the carburetor)
and limited gas pumps as mentioned by OM should be seriously put into consideration..
anyone with better knowledge on this, please correct me if i'm wrong as my info is based on an NGV system installed into an Iswara Taxi.. :D
PM me if interested in installing NGV system in your car.. i can hook you guys up with a deal..
p/s: worth it or not is very subjective.. if you use a lot of petrol daily then you should get your money worth in no time.. and another pros in NGV that i can see is that you get to see immediate saving on fuel even though you need some time to cover the initial cost for installation.. some people care and some people don't.. :D

Hopefully there will be more NGV stations. In the long run you will save as petrol price will NEVER go down.:(

i think the cost to convert MPV to use gas is also higher than normal cars. Have to take that into consideration. :(

stoopid island got no ngv pump :(
they shud have it in every petronas.... :D
they should open it up to other stations too...
i've seen those taxi/passenger cars at the NGV pumps before..if i'm not mistaken it takes 15 minutes to pump a full tank...
that means by the time you're done...your kids have graduated from college
(you also lose boot space if u convert to NGV)

Plus the queue on average is about 45 minutes...due to lack of stations.

yea thats why if they really were to go all out for NGV, they should allow not only all PETRONAS stations, but other stations like Shell/BHP/etc to sell NGV as well..
but oh well...i guess we all know why that wouldn't happen

there are few stations, and you shud really know where they are. my dad hv jz installed d NGV tank in his Naza Ria to go back and forth to his office which is now only rm10 per day compared to rm30 on petrol. queing isn't the big problem, is juz dat u'll have to sacrifice ur performance and also ur spare tire.

a colleague is using NGV on his prado...180 km for 2 tanks (18 ringgit total). he switch to gas by revving up to 4000 rpm when the engine is heated..

Other Station don't want to sell NGV as Petronas is selling at a lost.
Sooner or later the price of NGV would also increase.
