There's even more reason now with the D700 as a great backup the D3.
Scott Bourne has switched - http://scottbourne.com/

Let me quote from his site
"Some have asked me if I will be sad when Canon comes out with an answer to all this new Nikon gear. The answer is no. I’ll be happy. Competition is good for everyone. And I can always switch back if the scales tilt Canon’s direction :)"
Once you have a definite thought and idea to the lenses you want, its never hard to switch, when the cost of switching is getting less expensive these days :p

Yup, more important is to understand what tools you need to achieve the results you want.
Brand is inconsequential, results speak for themselves.

I understand people switch to Nikon, but i stick with my Canon gear for sure because i'm happy with it and with the results it gives me :D
Last week i could try a camera from my friend, it was the Canon D1 Mark III , for sure that camera is my dream now :adore:

it doesn't matter what brand u use.
as long it can deliver the photos that you want, then it is fine.

...but sometimes you can't deny that some cameras are technically better than other cameras from other models.

ada duit boleh switch lah.. it's not like beli kacang putih. If kacang puthi not nice, can go for kacang hitam and just throw away leftover.

haha the equipment only does so much as HELP you to take better pics..it doesn't take better pics by itself...
though i must agree with zumi that some cameras are built better than others (in terms of built quality/user friendliness/easy access of settings etc)

imo what is important is the man behind the camera and camera persay.
nevertheless, buy what you need and not what you want.
so keep shooting and be merry.

I think that's a good question...who is this guy?
By his own admission on his website: "I am a new media producer, photographer, author, lecturer, teacher and technology enthusiast."
(for me that spells "geek").
And I can't find any decent portfolio on his 2 sites. Pro?
:?
By the way, who is Scott Bourne?

Some people likes to get expensive gear to reflect their status, but it doesn't necessary that would guarantee you could take a good picture.
To me, it's just another tool, sometimes I being "forced" to purchase certain pricey items, because of that needs to get job done in lesser glicth issues, so no choice in certain situation.:(

Estimated price Scott Bourne paid for his new gear is slightly above USD$30k or Euros$19.6k.
