Mainstream r those majority listeners r listening in to. So non-mainstream r vice versa. For me I listen to Chris Spheeris, Emi Fujita, Tonino Baliardo, Jaime Valle, etc.

Yup I love him too.....I love the raw sound of the sax on my set. Just gives me the tingle.

Also listening to Etta James.....just makes my day. Especially the song...'At Last'

karheng

Ohohoh...hear the name Etta James also brings the tingles already...

Somemore At Last, fooh..that one superb...

One song that really gave me the chills was a superb rendition of Bridge over troubled water by Roberta Flack..

I wonder if anyone has that song...I can't get it anywhere...

Yah is pretty good, along with Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk (earlier stuff), ATB, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, Sasha..

Those are more into the realm of producers and DJ though rather than music makers. There albums would mostly be mix albums, not music they made.

The song title somehow goes with the rig as well.....coz the bass lines in that song really goes DEEP. Not many set up can go that deep.....especially monitor speakers.

Yup...I used to have a set up which is very harsh. But after a while the ears got more trained to more recessed sounds. And since I love vocals....I went for the tube amp set up. Since we r in this discussion.....well who knows maybe this thread will lead up to Hi-Fi Asia.

Si non ci sei tu con me, con me

Su le finestre
Monstra a tutti il mio cuore
Che hai accesso
Chiundi dentro me
La luce che hai incontrato per strada

Time to say goodbye,
Paesi che no ho mai
Veduto e visssuto con te
Adesso si li vivro con te partiro
Su navi per mari
Che io lo so
No no non essitono piu,
It's time to say goodbye

Quando sei lontana

hey karheng/zamrud,

looks like we can start a sub-forum for audiophiles here! interesting music you guys listen to i must say. a quick question on mp3.....do you all convert using "lossless" format? will this format be almost the same audio quality as the original cd? i'm thinking of getting an ipod and digitalize my collection of cds....mostly jazz and chill-out stuff from cafe del mar etc....

ShaolinTiger
07-16-2008, 01:30 PM
mp3 is a lossy format, there is no option for losless.

For CD quality you should convert using VBR or Variable Bitrate conversion, this will give you max quality for a reasonable size.

If you want losless conversion you should use FLAC not mp3.

Freaky
07-16-2008, 01:50 PM
apple has it's own lossless format for itunes if u wanna use it for ipod.

karheng
07-16-2008, 01:51 PM
I think ST explain it very well. If your setup is simple like mine, just a normal cd/mp3 player, even at 160kbps recording, you don't hear much difference compared to a CD. But if you have the tools which separate the channels then you will hear a huge difference....That's when the variable bitrate mp3 format comes in, but heck memory is cheap nowadays, you should copy them all in VBR.

I don't think Zamrud or any audiophile is bothered about mp3s...hahaha...

I found (the hard way), that the method of copying the songs into the CDs also make a huge difference....

Doesn't that sound familiar (relate to photography) already?

But if for Ipod, i think it's not that tough....It's just drag and drop!

hahahah i think many of us here would be content listening to mp3 or aac or even wma for that matter as long as we can hear what we want to hear.. =)

I think most peepz here would rather spend their money to get the better lense for their visual clarity and viewing satisfaction....:jester:
