I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

Flash + small aperture + dark background?

Hhmmmm....not entirely correct. No flash involved, only natural lighting......aperture f8. And that's not how the real BG looks like.

Black card behind the subject...reflector underneath/45 degree at the bottom to bounce the light from a midday/late morning sun..;)

Thanks.....but it doesn't even looked that way straight from camera too (in terms of lighting lah).

Wahhh......tembak midday/late morning summore huh. Reading from the exif u can know lah the time.....cehhh. But there was no reflector involved too. And its not a black card (almost 80% correct here).

From the answers given....only karheng's one's the nearest.

So karheng will get teh tarik on my account as a treat. :D

Somehow it reminds me of a technique by FCAS (Foam Core Addict Society).

However, the DOF is not deep enough.

Eh...i forgot to read the EXIF actually....I based my guess on the main light source and since it was rather diffused and u said no flash, so i guessed that it must be the sun.......

Agree with Kiankheong that the DOF is a tad shallow for this shot. and probably a styrofoam board or a white card used at the bottom....if it wasn't a reflector...i've seen someone use cloth before as well....so it's not impossible...

Yup...would love to have deeper DOF, the lighting actually kinda oredy diffused by the foliage above. Wouldn't want to lose the detail on the petals by boosting ISO, n didn't have a tripod with me. The lighting was achieved by waiting for the foliage to wither by the wind, until the lighting is exactly what I wanted. There was a reflector involved....but at the back of the flower.

The black BG is the reflector but only 90% covered........the rest was PP'd in.
