I am looking for wedding event lens.
Option 1: Tamron 17-50 with built in AF motor (hard to get without AF motor) hear experience people comment slower a lot compare to previous version and Nikor AF lens.
Option 2: Tokina 16-50 more expensive and don't know the quality of the picture.
My budget just 1.4K+.Any idea for me? or i stick to 18-135 or 18-70 better?

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8.
It's not that hard to find without motor!

Never compare Nikkor SWM with 3rd party lens like Tamron which don't have silent wave motor or like Sigma HSM :)
Focus should be slower than 18-135.

Go for the 18-135mm.
Then spend the balance on SB600

Built quality is excellent, IQ is good but the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 is still better.

Yes the Tamron though without SWM is still quite fast and really sharp plus it's a fixed aperture lens. Better than any of the Nikon kit lens IMHO.

I can't think of any better lens for that amount of money besides Tamron 17-50 or 28-75. If you can wait longer, Sigma is launching a new 24-70 f2.8 with HSM soon. It is a tad more expensive, but I heard praises for its predecessor. If you need to know more, call Desmond from YL to find out more.
tamron 17-50 get my vote as well. Good performance for the $ that you have paid.

About what he heard on w/o motor and with built-in motor... i have the one with built-in motor and it is slower in focusing compared to my friend's tammy (w/o motor).
