Been cracking my head deciding with one to go with my D80. I like Tamron for its lighter weight and closer focus distance but there isnt much reviews on it and some claims Sigma perform better. The price for both lenses are quite similar referring to ShaShinKi website, so which one should I go for? I din have the chance to try out any of the lenses here coz there isnt any ready stock in shops here. Anyone here own these lenses can share some lights with me? Thank you. :worship:

My experience on sigma 70-200II Macro/70-200 non Macro

pros
sharp, fast, silent, well built, rugged, consistent result, more contrast, detachable tripod collar

cons
scratches easily, heavy, bulky tripod collar

If buy Sigma, go for Ver II, never try Tamron b4.

I tested on the Sigma 70-200. u may feel the zoom ring is not very ergonomic. So I didn't get it. that would be one of the reason I didn't buy it after tested it. Haven't seen the Tamron one around.
