Hi guys, my recent wedding pictures, thanks for all the people that gave me the pointers earlier in the other thread. :)

Had some trouble figuring out how to bounce light etc so some pics didn't turn out well.

C&C much appreciated appreciated, please do tell me if some pictures were inappropriately post-processed. :)

Interesting wedding with an interesting theme.

Very interesting indeed.
I can't help to notice that most of your photos were soft.

thanks for the comments. Yes they were soft, thanks to my error in the aperture setting of F/2.8. That error was much regretted :( Is there any way to salvage it or should I just leave it as it is?

Hi noru .. do u mind pointing out which one in particular ? Is it all ? Coz i don't see much of them soft ... only 3 and 16 ... of coz not including those that he sengaja PP la ..

sorry for asking coz im learning also :P another reason is .. he's using my lens haha ... Sigma 18-50 f2.8 ... i believe he's shooting most of them at 2.8 ... could that be the reason too ?

1, 3, 8, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15.
16 is focusing at the wrong point.

A touch of sharpening will make them a bit better i think. :)

Thanks for the input noruazumi, you have sharp eyes.. :P

16 focussed on the cake instead of the bear.. :(

You want to focus on the bear, right?
Anyway, should credit you for having the idea to play around with the bokeh. :)

I wanted to focus the cake as a whole, but forgot that my dof was too shallow.. lol! Never shot F/2.8 before this actually so that day I was like "just go bokeh!" :P

Haha as predicted outdoor wedding...

Sure is an interesting theme for chinese folks...

2.8 is not exactly the best aperture unless you really know what you are doing and what you want to achieve. 4 is usualy a safer bet, probably that's why most beginner lenses are mostly 3.5 and up.

zumi is right with the softness. But some shots like the corsett was a bit messy because the bokeh doesn't really help the corsett become an impact subject.

If the corsett had some hands on it, would have been a better shot. Otherwise, a mirror to show a different angle would have been great too.

Good coverage. :)

However; -

Pix 1 - WB seems to the warm side.
Pix 3 - Too soft and under exposed on the subject
Pix 4 - Too soft
Pix 6 - I can see you in the mirror (it is definately a no no for a photographer to be captured in this wedding coverage)
Pix 8 - Nice captured, but the background; gold cloth is distracting
Pix 15 - Slightly under exposed.

Just my 2 cents of thoughts. ;)

(All photographers need to wear jacket ah for this shooting?) :0

Thanks for the critics guys, I seriously need them to improve future shots. Yeah the narrow DOF is one thing I regret the most. WB was tweaked in Capture NX2, I'll go change it a bit.

Karheng, there's a few more corset pictures with hands and stuff.. but it's kinda too private i dun dare to post :P

na7ure, got it for the no no for photographers to appear in the pictures. The jacket was not compulsory but it's part of the dress code/theme for the day.

Are any of the pictures oversaturated? I can't really tell as my monitor is uncalibrated. Is the sephia effect in #13 unsuitable?
