Ahem..ahem..

I know the month of the Hungry Ghosts is upon us, but somehow, there appears to be quite a number of moments of fleeting madness here in ShutterAsia.

And where was this lastest madness? It's in the last page of this thread :

http://www.shutterasia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17410&page=4

Zumi came in and wielded the moderater's iron fist in post #34 (pls do not mis-understand - it's within his right as a moderator and I do not question it). This resulted in Liewwk locking up the thread and walking off.

But seriously hor, the thing that attracted me to SA is the friendliness of the people here who I felt had the right blend of foto passion coupled with the ability to tok kok sometimes. It is this friendliness that makes SA unique. And if I may say so, mods do occassionally talk kok here and there too.

I do agree that sometimes, the ot chitchat can get out of hand and makes the thread longer than a cow's tail.

But then hor, if the originating poster (op), do not mind all the tok kok, and has things under control, then why should the mods even step in? If the op feels upset with all the bullshit, then it's his duty and responsibilty to crack the whip. And if he can't, then he should request the help of the mods.

Notwithstanding this, I fully support the mods stepping in, without warning, when there arises instances of flaming or name-calling or personal attacks.

In this particular case, I would say, to put it mildly, the reminder to cut out the bull could have been put in a better manner. As an advise/request, that is, not as an order.

And of course, Liew's reponse in locking the thread, is, shall we say,a bit of over-reaction, even though it's understandable.

So, for the sake of keeping photography alive, I call upon Liew to un-lock his thread, and Zumi to remove or re-word his posting. And move on from there.

Let us blame this moment of madness on all those little things that's floating around this month.

Amen and peace to all.

Have a drink on me

Allow me to sit up straight before I can continue with further comments.
I'm suffering from a backpain which now cause my legs to feel numb.

Anyway, I can't remember that I meant to be Iron Fist and all.
I was never have the attention to offend anybody.

The thread was posted in Event/Gathering.
My 'interference' was not meant to cause disturbance; emotionally or mentally.
I do believe in effective communication.
When you are trying to deliver messages, make it crystal clear.
Just like when we are having meeting, it is good to have minute meeting so that we are on track.

Same with this particular outing or any other outing.
I encourage people to organize outings and all.
Yes, to improve your photography skills and to meet more people.

I'm beginning to go off course here.
But anyway, I do understand that a little bit off-topic is fine.
I do post off-topic comments once in a while.
And I also let other people post off-topic once in a while.
It is part of we socializing with other people.
It is how we interact in non-formal way with people.

If I want to be Iron Fist and all, there is an infraction for off-topic comments.
But did I gave it to anyone in that particular thread?

So really, I never meant to offend anybody.
It was only a reminder.
It is obvious that the anger or whatever you want to call it didn't start from that particular comment that I've made.
It is obvious that it has been around for a while.

Well, all I can say is I'm sorry for making people feel offended, mr. liew in particular.
Seriously, if I really want to offend people, trust me, you will notice it.

IMHO i think Zumi's comment @#34 is just a reminder to all SA members to steer at the right position..hehe..sometime i also talk craps in other's posting, but i try to limit to one or two postings..scared being 'slashed' by the MODs 'Heavenly Sword'

hmm.... from Zumi's statements, the terms he used, like "you can", "please go to", "Try to" and a smiley :) at last, he's not giving an order and definitely not Iron Fist anyone at all IMO.

not just liew, he is also talking to Blackburn and anyone in that thread as well...

Thank you Zumi for your clarifications. I'm very glad that you meant your posting to be a reminder of the rules. As often said, sometimes the written words may not reflect what we really wanted to say and hence mis-understands arise.

Addict, Wow - what a direct and straight to the point answer. I can sense the anger boiling over. Or maybe I'm wrong.

If you believe the posting is not harsh or shall we say, can be put in a better manner, why then the re-action from liew?

I'm am trying to clear the air over a mis-understand between two parties and is that so wrong?

Frankly, I don't know the purpose of your last sentence

"U break it then be prepared to face the music like a man."

It it necessary at all? Like Zumie said, no one had been reprimanded - so who did not face the music like a man? Is'nt remarks like this adding to the flames?

I do agree that there are rules and rules. But if the thread starter himself accepts ot in his thread, and there are no flaming, should'nt the mods let it be? Or do you want SA to be so serious that only there should be no side-tracking even if the thread starter permits it? God help us then - SA will turn into a forum of tecnicalities frequented by humourless people.

Then SA becomes a forum without a soul, and it may be better for me to leave.

And when people cannot discuss things that they're not happy with in the forum WITHOUT being "told off" for bring it up, then it's a sad day.

Mods, do de-register my account as I feel that there is no room for serious discussions here and comaraderie building is only allowed in the chit-chat forum.

Creating new thread is bound to Rules & Regulations of Shutter Asia. I hate to use Rules & Regulations because I think it is too harsh. I personally called it Guidelines.

I don't think that people in SA are humourless.
Most people here when you meet offline, they are very chirpy.
Texts doesn't come with tone and facial expression.
Do take note of that.

Do check out Penangkia™ thread.
There are bunch of funny stuffs there. :)

And when people cannot discuss things that they're not happy with in the forum WITHOUT being "told off" for bring it up, then it's a sad day.
The beauty of public discussion is, different people will come out with different views.
Same when we share our photos here.
Some will like, some will dislike.
If we only favor to those who like our photos, and disregard the remarks by people who dislike our photos, we will never learn why people don't like our photos.
And what good does it do?
