took this at the Putrajaya MIFC yesterday evening..i combined the fireworks shot i took with one earlier test shot when sky are still lid up...was just experiencing, and wud like to think it turned out quite nice...cos the smokes where really getting in the way and clouded everything up...
shot using D70s, ISO400 (forgot to adjust), Bulb mode@29sec, f16 with black card (thanks to one photog sifu i met)

tho i think my location is not the best...will go again during Canada team's show and take from another angle..

pls comment.

A well-balanced composition, fireworks and buildings opposite of each other.

i'm oso a newbie...hehehhe..not use to advise ppl...anyways, what i learnt about black card...it's just a piece of dark/black colour card used to cover the lens during over-exp time, for instance, during burst of fireworks.

if u leave shutter on for long time 1-2min or so, like during shot of fireworks, too much light from all the fireworks within the frame will cause congestion in the frame..so what u do is cover the lens with a black card and block lights from entering and only open it up periodically or when u want lights to enter...the result will be correct exposure and multiple colours of lights in one single frame :bouncing:

it took me quite a few try to get used to it but it's really worth it...u shud go and hav a try too :D
