It was to be an 1,4 AF-S G lens. Now it's already to 1,2. Who knows, when photokina comes it is maybe already an 0,8 lense...
:D

I wonder why they always overkill their short lenses... equip with unnecessary VR when the lens is at short 50mm only... haih.... would rather spend on cheaper non VR version though... lol

Perhaps 1.4 glass price may drop in some time.:)

I think getting 50mm f/1.4 AiS is much better than getting these AF-D or the future AF-S! :run_away:

I am wondering, when they are going to launch this lens and what kind of IQ it produces at F1.2 .... not to mention its color out from this lens... :D

Why?

For me I like AF or AF-S. Lets me focus faster and stay in focus better hence more time for composition and taking the actual shot. I like that.
AF and AF-S free me from some work so me thinks that's great...

Long time ago I didn't see the need for a motor on my F3. It's big and heavy and hey, I'm quite fast with my thunb too, no?
Then I used first time a motor (on someone elses F3...) and realized that when I'm snapping pics of people at busy locations (like markets) that with the motor I don't throw off focus anymore and am way faster for refocusing and recomposing and hence ready to shoot again. Result was better images.
Never got a motor however as another friend had a F4 with him and at one time we were riding in a car along a motorcycle with 3 pretty girls on it (was in Vietnam). On the bumpy road I got off 3 shots. 2 were not in focus really and the one that was had no great framing plus two girls had eyes closed. My friend using his F4 got off 8 shots, about 5 were in focus and he had one real good shot...
Now I was convinced that motor and AF has a place in photography...
Got a F4 and never looked back.

F1.2, i wonder how usable it is going to be since the DOF is so thin. AF-S is a welcome indeed if it true. The current 50mm F1.8 AF is so slow and min focusing distance is dissapointing. Nonetheless is a sharp lens and serve me well in low light.

i think it's photochop... the lens hole of F1.2 couldn't be so small as 50mm f1.8...
