Hey all, so i think my first dSLR is going to be Pentax K10D. But before i make the leap, it's always good to get more opinions/suggestions:
1. Is the kit lens any good? Or should I forgo it and get a better lens? The package price was RM 3799 body + kit lens.
2. Also looking for decent lenses for landscape and macro. How much will this set me back?
3. How much will similar lenses cost for Nikon? Assuming I might go for D200 instead?
Thanks!
i've had the k10d since march and its a superb cam.
love its ergonomics, love its twin dial function which makes operations so much more graceful and speedier. very lasting battery life and etc etc. im sure u've done ur research.
the kit lens is good for normal use and its better if u shoot with raw to get sharpness straight from the cam. if u'r thinking of quality everylens like the 16-50 or 16-45 that'll set u back around 2-3k.
for landscape, pentax 12-24mm is often talked about. it costs 2375 from shashinki
tho there are also other brands like the sigma 10-20mm as well. cant find any shop which stock the pentax mount :/

Am interested to get a K10D but pentax does not have a lens in the range of 18-200mm which is good for travelling - less hassle changing lens. Any advice if the Sigma 18-200mm will give good performance with K10D - anyone tried before?

The K10D is anytime better than the D80. It's as good as the D200. And I have both the K10D and the D200 so I can compare. :)

I don't own one (yet) but have seen very good reviews of the Tamron AF 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical [IF] macro, which apparently is a great improvement on any of the previous Superzoom lenses by Sigma or Tamron. Quite some range of zoom for travelling!
