Nice usage of your slackpants as a background medium (my guess :P), it gives additional texture to the image which is gonna otherwise be a lil bland. Nice lighting too ST... just be careful cuz I see some burnt highlights - esp. on metallic surfaces (ie, the metal part of the keychain). My personal fav would be the last shot, which everything seem to be spot on!

overall - these shots "ada class!" :)

lovely first try! looking forward to more!

just a few quick general tips...

1) u'll need to clone out the dust and also any imperfections (including the paper label edges)

2) selective DOF is good but some photos may need more/less and the choice of the subject in focus needs to be a bit more 'definite' so the viewers can tell better what you want us to look at

3) burnt highlights are ok if u know how to use them to advantage. parts shiny metal reflecting flash need not yield any details as they are meant to be smooth and shiny anyway

Mouth-watering series! Very nice.
Like the way the OOF in pic #1 makes it similar to those zooming in/out pix.

Wish the DOF could've been more even in the tips pic.

GERMANY

The last one, light reflected off the brand name lettering spoiled it a bit

Thanks jay!

Background was a shirt actually, also a birthday present hehe. Give a bit of texture.

I burnt the highlights purposely actually, as there is no detail there anyway, it's supposed to bring out the shiny nature of the metallic parts of the pen.

Perhaps will try and build a softbox to check the results with that..or just buy one at Digicolor, but I still haven't been there yet!

Thanks chow! I really love the reflection too, it was taken in the keychain.

1) Ah didn't think of that, I did some work on the reflections one, but forgot about the others.

2) Yah, hard to strike a balance sometimes, with getting right lighting, not underexposed, DoF big enough and selective enough DoF to bring the subject out.

3) Yah I agree, just a shame the brand was shiny too as sometimes it reflected the light too much.

Mouth-watering series! Very nice.

Yah I agree, was trying to avoid the reflection of the brand names but it was tough.

Tried to increase the DoF for the tips pic, but I think my flash batteries were dying, it couldn't expose properly with a narrower aperture.

Elegant style man ST. Love the pics. Making me want to get an SP90mm as well! Haha but it's of course, all skill by the photographer.

Just my two pence,

1) I think that picture 2 and 4's woodish colours need to be boosted as they look darker than the rest of your shots.

2) Like what Lanatir said. Some pics need slightly more DoF in them. Hard to control as you said.

Overall:  Nice feel to the pics. I like them all
