I've been lurking around for a while now. No pic to post saves some from my Java trip a couple of years ago. Shot with a Sony p&s digicam.

1. Borobudur in Yogyarkata City in Java
3212

2. Borobudur again
3213

3. One of the thousands of reliefs in Borobudur
3214

4. Prambanan, also in Yogyakarta City
3215

5. Mount Bromo at Tengger, Java
3216

You can look them up in wikipedia : Borobudur, Prambanan, Yogyakarta City, Mount Bromo

Cheers,

Hi ST, thanks. Yes, these places are a must go. Thanks for AirAsia, traveling has become much cheaper. LOL. Check out Ijen Crater Lake too if you have the time.

Thanks qqmeng & clemong888. You can do Mount Bromo in 3 days. Maybe even 2. But that won't include Borobudur & Prambanan, which are in Yogyakarta. If you wish to cover only Bromo, then fly to Surabaya (AirAsia). If you wish to cover Bromo/Borobudur/Prambanan, then fly to Yogyakarta. Either way, you'll need to hire a car to get around.

Here's another one. After admiring the breathtaking sunrise view of Mt Bromo, you'll get to hike up Bromo itself. The jeep that took you uphill to the lookout point will drop you off somewhere near Bromo. From there, you can either walk to Bromo foothill or take a pony ride. I really advise against taking the pony ride. I had big time trouble keeping my balance and keeping myself from falling off the pony:D

Great place, please share more info on how to get there, what to do, where to stay etc.

Might plan for a trip during Merdeka day. Anyone interested?

Hi Sampoerna, maybe this will help: http://wikitravel.org/en/Yogyakarta and http://wikitravel.org/en/Mount_Bromo

My friend and i actually flew to Yogyakarta with no prior planning. We made our hotel and sightseeing arrangement at one of the many tour agencies at the airport..LOL.

If you plan only to check out Borobudur and Prambanan, which are both near Yogyakarta, not much planning required. Just fly there, find a hotel of your budget, and go find a travel agency there. It will be cheaper that way. The hotel i stayed in was Hotel Malioboro, i think. Forgot how much the rate was. Too long ago, sorry!

AirAsia doesn't fly to Yogyakarta. You'll have to fly MAS or maybe GARUDA. AirAsia does fly to Solo, which is not too far from Yogyakarta.

Cheers,

You should turn off the date stamp. Date stamps are redundant in the digital era since the date is in the exif.
