You'll need a macro lens for such close-ups (poison, poison)...

I prefer the ones without flash (or so it seems)....you can still see some shadows in the ones using flash.

Yeah, Goji, I know but had to make do with wot I have :(

And had to use on-board flash, too, hence obvious shadows. It was only almost two years later I bought the SB800.

Shadowed background can be PP-ed away or replaced, but ..... :P you already know my answer :D

Use A3 size paper as backdrop.

SK, with the onboard/built-in flash, the A3 backdrop would still give the same result......wouldn't it?

A solution for you and the onboard flash alan.
try using A4 paper to diffuse the harsh flash lightsource. just place the A4 paper in front of it, and you should be able to get better results with flash.

OK...now one very important off-topic question: Did u eat the kailan after photographing it?

Honestly not sure how to C&C this...as well it's Kailan!

What's the purpose of shooting it, what's your objective, what are you trying to portray?

Well ST, it was a multi-pronged thing - the cam was new, so wanted to get a feel of it, its features, its capabilities etc

Wanted to also see how it and yours truly performed as well, if possible

And i like kailan ... ! :D Trying out still life.
Comments and critiques will tell me how I fared
This was almost 3 years ago.
