Here's the deal, if you have RM130k (+/- RM5-10k is okay) as your budget guide, which among the above would you consider to purchase? Lancer 2.0GT or the Civic 2.0? Do lemme know on why you make the decision. Or maybe other alternative?
Option/suggestions could be of used car too.
Cheers for the feedback.

Since you have fairly shortlisted the 2 above, i would vote for the Honda, I recon there would be better resale value (pardon me on the new car topic :p) and also its a proven reliable ride (speaking from my general observation, not comparing any zero to 100 performance, and such..)
With the increase in fuel prices, you may want to consider the lower CCs if you do not require the additional 200ccs, maybe the 1.8 may be sufficient for your needs.

im awaiting feedback to see what other option i could be opened up to with this price range. theres 2 issue i have with both of the car.
lancer : i love the styling, but the interior makes me feel squimish. just doesnt feel like a RM100K+ car at all... if i may, i would say the plastics are just so wrong!
civic : love the interior. honda sure put in a lot of effort in here. but the styling is a bit on the feminine side, and there's just too many of them OTR. the 1.8L version lacks many bits and pieces of details on it.

Roughly around that. Some even goes for RM 160k only. But bear in mind, roadtax for fairlady is around 4k++

the reason why i dun want a toyota - esp those in economical line ups ie vios etc - is the fact that toyota makes "lifeless" cars. they bang on their commonization programme too much... so much so that at times u get some cheap parts on higher end models.
anyway, the option of a Nissan Fairlady Z does sound interesting though :P

Personally I'd go for a Mazda 6, the Lancer exterior is wicked...but the rubber for 18" rims is gonna kill you plus the interior is horrendous.
The Civic is good all around.
For second hand options personally I'd go for a Volvo S40 2.4i or a S60 T5 or alternatively look for a nice Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo or a Toyota Caldina RS4.
Those are my choices.

I vote for the Mitsubishi Lancer. It's design departs from the normal conventions. It has high waistline and has presence. Besides it's identified with the big brother Lancer EVO. It should put some scare on the front car when you're at the rear! :P
A Honda Civic is just another saloon but a Lancer is a cult car. ;)

if u think of resale value go for the civic... its powderful and fual saving... lancer a bit too heavy side , toyota seriously hopeless with a old engine and think they are moving forward is totally crab some more expensive than the civic they must be out of their mind...
but if i am you i will get the honda city and the rest do wat ever u wish lol :P its totally stupidity to buy nice car in malaysia the tax is so high u pay the gov money only lol....
honda city cun lea... the new one that have yet to reach our shore that is... fuel saving haha
and got news that the hybrid will be around your budget also due to gov looking into making malaysia road a more green road (wonder any under table involved )

i agree with ST.... Mazda 6 is very nice ... both exterior and interior... and i actually like peugeot 407... i know.. this car maybe look a bit older or meant for slightly more matured people but hey... its a one fine car !!!
Jayhan, if u put in another 20K extra, get camry with the aerokit version... white colour... fuiyoh... to me, that is very very nice !!! LOL

Jayhan get LANCER habis cerita. hahaha
imho Honda Civic is for family use only, it looks too soft and gentle compared to the Mitsubishi.
other reasons like resale car value, etc, fuel consumption is negligible here..
some look for performance, some look for style, some look for practical and affordability, you should ask yourself what am i looking for ? hehe
heck if you can dish out RM130,000 for a car what is RM 2.50 a litre or resale value for you.
Other car makes i dunno, maybe VW GTI Turbo, but i believe its more than 130k :P one of my old frens has it, man tat 200BHP can really freaking fly !!!
So jay got your answer already ?, if you get my drift kekekeke:P

Unless you need the space, for RM 130K I'd go for the VW Polo GTi...its a seriously fast car WITH excellent control on bends.....of coz if you had
RM 198K then its the Golf GTi...nothing to compare to it and if you had RM 298K then its the Golf R32 GTi...

The big problem with the Lancer is that is is not here, not there. They try to make it sedated but at the same time wanna look Ganas....
Like what???
Anyway....
Civic is a safe bet.
But I would really really suggest that you look into the Nissan Latio Sport H/B if u are looking for a sporty car, which can fit many and has good Fuel Consumption at the same time. And Nissan has better interior than Lancer probably...

Just my 2 cents
For the stylist interior especially the dashboard, and the design of the exterior wise, i will choose civic. Depend on what you want la...for the "Garang", LancerGT win! But think of long terms wise-services centre, resell value, spareparts, etc.
Heard of the new lancer's gearbox overheat easily. travel highway at above 140km/h for some time then the engine light will "bling bling". Saw this issue in article and from my friend who instruct 1 group of lancer club at Kg. Gajah track. all halfway drive out of the track to cool down the car!!wtf....sound like my Potong Waja 1.8 last time. Some said it's the common problem for that model of gearbox. (do correct me if im wrong).
Nothing to do with the "too many Civic OTR" lerr...as long you love the car, just enjoy driving it!
I just went to Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi showroom to view and test drive the car last 2 week coz my brother wanted to get a new car. We just look at Altis, then lazy to test drive so say bye bye to the SA :P (nothing specal and boring design, although their engine always fuel saving tech.). LancerGT torque/ gear ratio is too "smooth" for me, doesn't feel the 'kick' at all for such Garang-look car. Honda still have iVtec ma...put on the bodykit and spoiler, who dare to tailgate you!!?? haha...

Smooth aerodynamic and futuristic look for the Civic.
Garang and macho look for the Lancer. ( I was greatly impressed by the Lancer initially but somehow the impress factor doesnt last long, now feel it looks abit "kayu" ).
Anyway, tested both cars.
Civic 2.0 much more powerful than the Lancer GT. If u are driving a Lancer, dont even entertain a kancil turbo at the traffic light ( to avoid humiliation).

I must say something liao.....the new Lancer come with the Gear Box cooler, and it will not over heat, even you maintain the speed of 200 KMH from KL to Penang.(Which I did before, but your car is like drink water.) but one tank is just enuf for that speed all the way from kl to penang.

well, if highway can go around 600 KM per tank, if in town with a little heavier footer then it will 480. without any heavy footer that will be same as civic.
forgot to tell, if base on 2.70 per litre tat will be 0.28 per km and now base 2.45 that will be around 22 cents per km.

isnt km/litre is more appropriate?

Well, I said cent per KM. so you can calculate on it. or maybe you need more actual answer?
As @ RM 2.45 per Litre, my car hit RM120 per tank. tat I could get up to 540KM.
So, you may calculate it yourself with that data.

Cool bro, what i mean was, isnt km/litre more "directly and universally comparable", rather than unnecessary extra calculation esp given the situation of the unstable fuel price.
Anyway, another question also bothering my mind concerning *full tank mileage, do u always drive until the last drop of petrol?

thanks for the offer but im just not a bimmer guy.
outlook wise, i'd choose civic. lancer nampak garang, but somehow i find the look doesn't appeal for too long. look at it longer, and you'll soon find that the impress factor doesn't hold. while i think civic's look could last for a longer time.
it's like looking at a model :) lancer is like "first look: wow! .. look longer: hmm, actually ok only lar" .. civic is like "first look: nice! .. look longer: still nice"
but then again, this is a lady's opinion :P
i dunno about price, but mazda 6 looks good too ;)

Dont know how many fuel left when the second warning appears but for sure at best u can claimed is only " almost full tank" :D
Back to the topic, I find quite number of my friends share the same opinion that the LGT impressive look doesnt hold long, "em cum tai"
ANyway, imo either the LGT or Civic is just ordinary car. If u are still single, energetic, strong, brave..and hensem, better get a real sport car. Something like a used Impreza( i believe around 130k++), can even tiong Porsche liao hehe

conti cars quality reallu outshine jap, especially if u r considerin long term durability.

I would reckon CIVIC 2.0 IVTEC!!! I've been driving this monster for 5mths now and yet to have any complain in any aspect..power,handling,fuel consumption..etc.
Honestly in the first place I do not have any good intention to buy this munster as i dun really like Honda cars.(Feels like all the ah bengs out therehav 1).
But come 1 day, my fren convince me to giv it a try on his CIVIC 2.0.

After paying the toll, looking at clearer than ever road with no 1 ahead makes me step on it revving the engine to its max...and...WALAO...3500rpm comes the ignition of VTEC power! With SHIFTRONIC on, the rpm on 3rd gear went up to 6500rpm b4 changing to 4th.(Bear in mind its a 5gear gearbox!)
Did 192km/h b4 slowing down to the sunway toll turning to the left. The next day immediately visited the OKR showroom to place my booking for a black nite hawk CIVIC 2.0 and now..TADAA!!!To make it look meaner, i reckon u to change the bumpers to TYPE-R bumpers with a set of superlite japanese 18"inches!
