Hi,
my first time posting here...

Hi,
took these shots during one bored hot night back home in Indonesia.
my home city, Medan have recently experience frequent blackouts due to insufficient supply of electricity.
It goes as long as 4 hours per blackout and up to 3 times a day.
so, i began thinking of what to shoot during these times of no power supply.
one night, i began melting candles and started shooting this !
my only main power of light is from my 580EX, the candle itself and a torchlight that i shone on the wax for focus prior to dropping the melted wax.

I thought they turned out cool and would like to know what do you guys think about it :)

comments and critique is greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

i think using wax is the best way to capture the dropping action due to the liquid density.
u captured it well...
very well executed.
thansk for sharing.

i'd say it's about the same...
depends on the speed of the drop.
i don't know thou,
i've shot thousands of water prior to this.
i'm now kinda able to get about 5+ crowns per 10 shots.

lol..comment on the avatar also..
thanks :)
i'd love 8 best if the crowns are also in focus..
it was really dark and with only a torchlight shining on the wax,
focusing is even more difficult to get the crowns !

i think the density of wax is somewhere near the density of milk.
that's why they advice shooting milk before water if u're just starting out shooting splashes :)
milk is easier to shoot than water

wah.. this is nice... you should get bored more often... :D

lol..during my holiday back there,
did lots of experiments including water and etc..
but am now back to singapore,
don't think there'll be a lot of time for experiments anymore :(
