Canon 400D autobeam

in my camera, custom function i hv set autobeam to emit and when i try my 430EX flash or even build in flash, the beam light is not on nor the infra red too. I attach the flash to other camera i.e 350D and the infra red works. My camera is only 2 months old. Any problem with the camera system?

The autobeam is too assist AF. Check if your lens is in MF.

both my kit lens and 50mm f1.8 are in AF mode

Check contacts and what is your setting for Custom Function 5 (AF-assist beam)?

function 5 is zero = emit
i try shoot in low light (ballroom area) and it does not beam.. yes, AF is on

Also check the custom function on the flash as well.

If it still doesn't work I suggest you reset the camera/custom functions/flash custom functions to the factory default settings before taking it back to Canon.

don't worry, it's not stupid...i was also having the same problem before, forgot to switch from AI servo mode...:redface:
