I'm new to photography. I got my D40 last weekend and these are some of the results that I got while trying out the camera. Might be crappy or might not be but I know if I don't post it up, I will never know. So any piece of advice/comments/criticism is welcomed. After all, I need to start somewhere :rasta:

I actually like no.1
but i think it could be better if part of the sky is cropped - i.e. show more of the person.

Yeah I like #1 & #4.
#1 would be better if there was slightly less sky, and you'd asked him to turn to his left and shot him from that side so the light was more direct on his face.
#4 would be better if you'd composed without the window frame on the left side.

I like #1 the best.
The last one could do without the two 'posts' at the sides.
Overall a great start :D
p.s: I think I might know the guy as well in #1. This is on the Westlands field rite? :rasta:

#1 point taken
#4 i did try to crop but somehow it look a bit weird to me that's why I just left it like that ... will try cropping again later when I get home from work

Don't know if I can get a better shot if I move closer/forward. I kinda chopped down the trees when I cropped :P
Yes. That's Westland. Our co. had netball training there. Have to include guys bcoz we didn't have enough players

I like no. 1. Your low angle made the picture. Slightly less sky would be nicer.

Alrighty.
Lets say if I were to shoot the same photo again, would cropping out the sky after the picture is taken be better or would zooming in on the subject be better? Or anything goes as long as there's less sky? :?
