Well the composition is a little odd for me, I'd feel better if her feet weren't chopped off.

Here's my effort, loads of things I did, layers, curves, masking, sharpen, straightened the lines, cropped it a bit, cloned out the distracting blackness behind her.

There is some halos cos it's a low res pic.

dr teh.. i think ur ps spoil her skin complexion.

st, your ps on the model is ok, but i dun like the white aura surrounding her.. as if she were dead..

I like Kenneth's version (sharp, detailed, clear) and Doc Teh's (dramatic) too.

Can u teach me step by step how to do it?

tight cropping, correct skin tone.
no idea to do more dramatic editing.

noruazumi,

u make a new layer mask with Gaussian Blur.
if u r not lazy like me, u can always erase/un-mask the part where u don't want it to be blurred.
play around with the opacity of the layer until the skin texture become "smooth".
after u get the "smooth" skin, play around with curve to get the color & contrast that u want.
u can always use color balance to correct it.

have fun! ;)

Honestly, I feel that there's nothing wrong with the colour or the exposure. Loose space is ok and there's no need to crop much.

I think you should perhaps change your shooting angles. Perhaps you should try sticking close to the wall which the model is leaning on and shoot from that angle. That would perhaps get a better composition.

My 2 cents.

Why make it more impact when you make her pose in a solemn mood? I like the way it is frame coz it give space into where she is looking into. Nice color and skin tones. Why spoil it?

I thought the lighting on the wall was too plain and flat.. so to make it slightly more interesting....

Smoothened skin abit, used lighting effects, and then layer blending...

My try......tilt the vertical back straight up. Curve & level adjustment. Dodge off the hair to recover the details of the hair, dodge the face to brighten up her face and also dodge the wall ....and spot heal the cracks on the wall as not so nice and sort of distracting...:D

Though I take 5min break.....:run_away::run_away::run_away:

Trying something different....

Desaturated 80% main layer, A few layers with isolated shirt, lips, blending with dodge. Some vignetting effects.

Urban Acid and Gaussian blur?

BTW please share your steps when you post pictures, this is not a showing off exercise, it's a learning one!

So share what you did in as much detail as possible so others can learn from it.

Thanks!
