very good lens, good for the price.
i like the lens.
good luck to you!
:) Why don't you but it new. Price about RM380-390. At least you got it fresh and with warranty. It's one of those "must have" lens to start with.

Is the 50 f1.8 that good? Or value for money? What about the f1.4? It's about slightly more than twice the price, not sure about the performance though...

if u ask me, i dun need f1.4. why?
too shallow!
even at f1.8 u can see the obvious.
but u know, someone find it pleasurable to have f1.4. :P

Thanks, Noruazumi. But wouldn't the f1.4 come in handy in low light shooting when no flash allowed, say a at a play. Or even the f1.8 is good enough for that kind of occasion?
I thought I saw an f1.2 also at camera shops..LOL.

I had the 50mm f/1.8 great lens, also sold it for RM300 recently.
Good buy!
I have the f/1.4 now, nicer manual focus and better build quality.
There's no f/1.2 for Nikon though, that's a Canon lens.

In practice, at f/1.4 compared to f/1.8 you'd get a shutter speed of 1/50s instead of 1/30s, hardly much you might think but in some cases of subject movement in low light (when you've already pushed to ISO1600), this makes it just that little bit sharper to make it a keeper. It's up to you to consider if that makes a discernable difference for your kind of photography. As mentioned it's also more solidly built and with smoother (faster?) focusing. Pros, who get paid to get that shot, won't quibble about the price difference. Your mileage would vary.

Hi Ripi and ST, thanks for sharing your thoughts and valuable experience. Hmm..so it's that one stop (faster) vs the price difference..hehe..let me look at the f1.8 again. :P How much is the f1.4 btw?
