Hehehe....so as not to hijack Alvin's thread. As promised, here are a few macro pics....not many shot that day as it was quite windy...never try to shoot insect macro in the wind unless you want a really bad headache and serious eyestrain!
1) Boring dragonfly....cropped a fair bit.

2) Come 'ere and gimme a bite!

3) To answer Deric's question from Alvin's thread....the fly was much bigger than the spider, hehehe! Ladies, see what happens when you don't shave your legs often enough, wahahaha!

C&C very welcome!

:jaw:
hola!
The 'fly has very nice blue colour - wish it were closer though and needs quite a bit of cropping
The ant head with wide opened mandibles  Wish the rest of the body was in focus, though.
The spider    Too bad the fella not on wider leaf, would show off his legs better.
Very nice bokeh in all

Hehehe, the dragonfly was more of an afterthought....didn't think that I'd have gotten it in focus.
I personally like the ant the way it is....the soft blue in the background and woodgrain seems to complement the disembodied head...but that's just me and I do have a very warped mind!
Yes...Tamron also has nice bokeh...hmm....no need expensive Nikkors...*cough* *cough*

My taste.
#1 is ok except the backgrounds, a bit messy and distracting
#2 I like it with shallow DOF, it brings up the weaver ant mandibles pretty well. Good focus on the eyes too. Probably you want to flip the picture up side down.
#3 Not bad at all except for some harsh highlights on the leaf and probably not to position the subject in the center.
No 2 gets my vote.
No 1's nice too but the background a bit busy.

Goji, thumbs up for a nice set of macro  .....the ant and the spider pic is good...dragonfly would be better if not for the distracting background...imho..

I like #3.:) A tighter crop to focus more on the subject might be better, imho.

I should have shot the spider head-on....but my poor back probably won't be able to take the strain.
Maybe a square crop of the spider whould have been better?

I like #2. The shallow DOF makes the body disappear! :D

Gojira, I digg the DOF in the 2nd shot, and that you got most of the spidey's body in focus. Btw, in the 1st image, I believe that's a damselfly, not a dragonfly.
