yes D50 can do IR ... u nned some WB tweaking and some PS adjustment..

1st put on your IR filter and set the green grass or blue sky as your WB and you re ready to shoot.

after shooting. In PS in Channel Mixer, select Red Channel, slide your Red to 0% and Blue to 100%. Now select Blue Channel in and slide your Blue to 0% and Red to 100%.

and tang tang! :D

p/s: u need a tripod. this is what i normally do. after setting the WB, i ll take off the filter and compose (Manual focus) and focus then only i put on the filter and shoot.

Heh bro you need to go read some tutorial.

To get IR you need to set custom white balance with IR filter on (the camera is supposed to think green is white) then you need to do channel swap in PS to get final effect.

Looks like you used AWB.

The D50 takes nice IR pics.

If you shot RAW you can fix it though.

Very comprehensive guide here.

+1 for the White Balance correction and color channel swapping ( which i dont understand till now). Nail it and you should be good to go. me myself havent tried IR photography since i dont have any IR filters but i admire IR photos a lot.

ST, i think the d50ir (the one presented by kenrokwel) is a modified one, meaning you replace the internal filter if im not mistaken. It will then become a camera dedicated to do IR photos exclusively. uncleNordin did it with its d2/d1 (cant remember) a few days ago. With a modified version you dont need to put filters (on the lens) and exposure time is reduced considerably. Correct me if im wrong though:)

edit,

hey, try to do auto-level and you'll see wonder;) . thanks to STs 2nd link.

D50 is capable of doing IR just using the IR filter, need not modify.

What about D80 with IR filter, without modifying? Can D80 do any IR photo?

i was talking about the one mentioned in STs link. the D50ir (which is a modified d50) could take IR pics without having to put an extra ir lens filter.. Of course a normal D50 + IR lens filter could take IR pics. Its just that the exposeure time is longer.
