Yeah number 2 is like something straight out of a movie, expect to see Nicholas Cage jump down with a bag of guns.
Fantastic!

Thanks for kind words, guys...:)
Have to admit that I bumped up the color temp for all those shots:redface:
but main objective was for color impact in those images..
Shot was taken at around 7:30am when sun was rising with golden light,
I used WB "shade -3", manual aperture & shutter speed, ISO250 (accidentally,
intended ISO200) & in NEF (Nikon RAW) format.
Further adjustment of WB in Nikon Capture & curve adjustment in CS2.

Seems like there's some haze there?
Yes... sure can...:D
I'm planning for a session this weekend,
weather permitting..;)
or nothing on the office&home front crop up
on the last minutes...:P
BTW... some info;
currently Runway1 (closest to F1 circuit) is closed due
to upgrading works to suit the giant Airbus A380..
So all landing & departing traffic using Runway2
(if you look towards the airport as you come from the highway...
the one on the right).
Best place to shoot sideways... from open space next to
the Meteorological Station, however only in the afternoon
when the sun would be behind your back. But can do in early
morning as my examples in this thread.
The other places would be on either both ends of the runway
(depends on arrival/departing from the south or the north). You can access
the places by taking the Bunga Raya (VIP Complex) exit and follow the
perimeter road..
But be warned... sometimes MAB Security (they're in Police uniform)
will "ask" politely to leave and "explain" that it's "forbidden" to take
photos.... Best is to abide them...
those are their territories anyway, even outside the fence...
Hope to see you guys there...:)

200mm is sufficient, in fact I've to go back a few steps if I want to
shoot full length of a 747 .. that at 70mm:D (am using 70-300G only..:P)
See you guys... probably Saturday afternoon

Me 'alamak' too...didn't check the 'event' section up there:P
But already pre-planned for some 'big butterflies' shots using
telezoom (since I don't have a macro lens..)
Nvm CM... will see you there some day...:)

Some people call it 'cap ayam' or 'chickedees' lens....
but so far so good in bright daylight:rock:
Sorry... I'll OT a bit...(not wanting to open a new thread..)
These are not "sunrise" shots... almost "sunset"...
Shot late afternoon just now...
More "butt" shots for Alan..:D

Thanks ST.. panning equals 80% discarded images:P
I shot using Aperture priority normally since the 70-300G lens
sweet spot is between f/6.3 to f/9. And for moving subjects,
shutter to burst..:D

Thanks... that shot was at around 180mm, but cropped about 50%
during editing to remove unwanted fence etc & tighter onto the aircraft

The shots were taken from an area next to the KLIA Weather Station.
If you take the Kompleks Bunga Raya exit from the main highway, turn right
in front of the complex, the road will lead you to the station. Its on the right
side, on top of a small hill. You can shoot from the hill overlooking the runway.
Don't enter the station's compound... out-of-bound..
Suitable lens would be 70-200 or 70-300 (80-200 also can)...
Example .... this one I shot at 80mm (using 80-200) & I've to moved
further back to include the whole aircraft (a B747-400)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/b200_driver/Spot2007/4August07_KUL/PHBFR_4Aug07KUL_1mw.jpg
But if a smaller jetliner like this common B737-400... 125mm would fit.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/b200_driver/Spot2007/4August07_KUL/9MMQD_4Aug07KUL_1mw.jpg
If you're using 300mm prime... you'll get close like the blue Air Asia up there...
BTW... the weather station location is good for afternoon shot as the sun
would be behind you. And it's good and busy traffic till November
since the other runway is closed for upgrading works...
Thanks again for your interests guys..:D

Good job bro...those aircraft are look much better in photo. :P
:D Thanks....
This was taken last Tuesday.... I skipped my lunch time and rushed
to KLIA for this particular aircraft....:D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v406/b200_driver/Spot2007/EPIAD_14Aug07KUL_2mw.jpg
Why?...
1. It's a Boeing 747SP.... not many flying around now (only 17 worldwide)
Boeing747SP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_747SP)
2. I always wonder where Iran get the parts from... Boeing being American.
3. Tuesday is not in Iran Air's schedule. The flight should arrived late Monday
afternoon, and went back to Tehran around midnight. The flight was delayed till midday
Tuesday, and left about 2 hours later.
So, its not easy to get this mini jumbo rotates during daytime in KLIA
4. I left my D70s at home and since from the office borrowed a
friend's D80 for this shot:P:P
