I was tired of the food places around Damansara Perdana so I decided to go some where else for dinner. I could hop on to the LDP, either left, to Kepong, or right, to PJ/SS2 etc.

I could pay RM1.60 toll (to make semi value richer so he could afford a better hair piece) to go Kepong; or brave the mad traffic and parking situation in SS2. Nah..neither.

Then I thought of Dataran Sunway, which is just a few minutes away from Ikea/Tesco area. Just turn in to Persiaran Surian and keep going, past Palm Spring condo on your right, and within a couple hundreds of meters, you'll see UOB bank up ahead. Turn right and you're there.

To my delight, this place is just like SS2 in the making. Japanese food, kopitiam, dim sum, mamak, cafe, bakery, pirated dvds - you can find them all here!

Anyway, I love fish and the moment i saw Ben's Fish Head, I knew I had to check it out.

So here's my dinner. RM 18.00. Total RM 19.50 inclusive of dessert and a glass of plain water.

It's a type of fresh water fish. Some kind of silver carp i think. In cantonese, it's called "Song Yue". Extremely yummy.

orion - are you staying in damansara perdana? i moved there abt a year ago and you're right, i'm also getting tired of the food there. and like you, i've ventured into dataran sunway. great choice of food there! but i've not checked out this fish head yet.

you might want to try Steam King, they have lots of fresh seafood. in fact, i just had dinner there tonight.

nice looking steamed fish you had there. i think it's similar to that famous one in jln chan sow lin in kl. happy feasting ! :D

Oh really? I moved here slightly more than a year ago, too! :D
Steam King? Also in Dataran Sunway right? Yeah, i think I saw it. I'll try it next time. Thanks.

I've never tried the one in Jln Chan Sow Lin, but had tried the one in Cheras who claims to be a branch of CSL Fish Head. Not very good I must say. There's another place in Cheras which in my opinion is the best! I'll post about it next time. Cheers!

Keong yung soong yu !:thumbs_up::thumbs_up:
Try slicing body meat and quick boil in ginger infused water, add chinese parsley, season to taste

Err not silver...it's totally black head to tail and lotsa blood when you cut it up.

I went to Steam King per Chuah's suggestion. They didn't have "song yu" so I settled for "pak sou gong" (patin). Very good, but too much frill = more pricey! :P

I think I still prefer no frill type restaurant. :D

"pak sou gong" is not patin fish but a kind of catfish with whiskers at the mouth. nowadays these freshwater fish are actually cultivated. if you can get the '"wild" variety i.e. caught in the open river, the flesh is much firmer & tastier.... :D

Oh, pak sou gong is not patin? LOL.:P

Yeah, wild ones are nice, but very hard to get nowadays.
