good idea ST.
i was thinking the same thing too.
try to put all the interesting places & other stuffs in Malaysia & in Asia.
this can be use as reference not only by us, but perhaps other ppl esp. tourist.
pro level food photography? definitely not me!!! hehe. :P
but do create section where we can reccommend good place to go & good food.
at least the review is done by us, ORDINARY PEOPLE.
u know sometimes we cannot trust dedicated website that give review coz they sometimes were endorsed! hehe.

A little note to add.

Shots should look presentable and there should be consciencious & self interest effort to make it look presentable. You should consider factors and your own consideration if you decided you want to take pictures of the food to be posted up in SA.

Factors such as composition and lighting should be taken into consideration.So this presents an opportunity for you to improve yourself as well as others. I am too as well. Rocket science is not needed just think properly and carefully if you intend to take food shots and if you do intend to post it here in SA :D

Yah to follow what leslie has said, not to say every shot has to be perfect, fit to be in a magazine.

But we want some kind of effort put into your food pictures, some thought about composition, DoF and lighting.

No hastily grabbed snapshots which dont make the food look appetizing, we want threads full of restaurant reviews fit to make people drool.

Not loads more average pics of food you can find on any blog.

Minimum from my experience for good food photos is a speedlight and a reasonably fast lens (50mm f/1.8 is a great start). Or anything like 17-50mm f/2.8 Tamron gives you a more flexible range to take the surrounds aswell.

Hahah Alan, I think this thread is not merely just a food photos thread. The initial plan for this was to show off some local Malaysian food to get me on my toes since I cant have them here in UK, but can only salivate over them :P . So all kinda food photos can be shown here - nice or not, pro or not.

yes Alan, the initial idea of this thread is actually to make JAYHAN drool over the nice & delicious food here in MALAYSIA where he cant get there in UK. hehe. what an evil idea eh? :D

i myself compiling photos to a restaurant that i went recently in Perlis. Not sure the photos is crap OR super crap! hehe.
