I'm using a Canon EOS 400D. Student, so i'm on a budget. I wonder if i can get any under RM600. It would be either a flash or the 50mm f1.8. I guess the flash would be a more practical buy but it's a bit more expensive. Then again, i don't think i can afford anything over RM600 anytime soon. :( Maybe in the near (or far, depending on my spending habits hehe ) future.

any ideas? :?

You can go for the second hand Canon 420EX flash.
It is selling around RM500 or less depending on the condition of the flash.

How about third party compatible flash? But beware, you get what you pay for it.

You can try YL Camera at Pudu Plaza for second hand.

Or check the places to buy/repair cameras thread in buy/sell.

Get the best you can afford!

As for third party, Sigma super series is about the best you can get - check out the prices of those.

save it a bit and get the 430ex will be a wiser choice as u can use ETTL

else u get lesser feature on the old model IMHO canon flash the older one are a bit outdated and unless u know how to use it to the fullest, else u will be having a tough time with it

380ex u can get for about 350 to 400

420ex 500 +-

When it comes to flash, get the best you can afford. Try the used ones from YL Camera. I think they give limited warranty.
