View Full Version : New Sigma Lenses For D40
Okay, i know the lenses are not meant for D40, what i'm trying to said here is if you have a D40, you cannot use Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, never mind. Sigma has now bring you the dream. The Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC MACRO HSM for Nikon and it will Auto Focus on your D40. What more it come with macro? but in 1:3 factor.
Beside that, you still have another option. The Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC MACRO HSM for Nikon.
Cheers!!

Yeah this is great news, I was wondering when a third party 17-50 or 18-50 f/2.8 lens would come out with a built in AF motor, suitable for D40 users.
All the more reason to get a D40x as backup now!

Where can get full range of Sigma lenses in KL huh?? Most shops carry Tamron.
If compare build n quality, Tammy or Sigma is better??
haha..agree with u guys.
now sigma had bring a wide angle f/2.8 to D40's users.
Nikon had replace most of the AF lense to AF-S, hopefully coming up next is AF-S 50mm and 85mm.
Sigma famous with the peel off aroune the zoom ring? hopefully they do better in these new lenses.
i think a lot of the user will advise you to get tammy for wide (17-50) and macro (90), telephoto will be sigma i guess?

Sigma built quality is usually slightly better APART from the coating.
The coating ALWAYS peels off.
The Sigma HSM focusing is also very good.
The Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 is definitely the best in that range, for macro either Tamron 90mm or Sigma 150mm and for telephoto usually people go for Sigma 70-200 f/2.8.
Sigma 10-20mm is also a fantastic lens.

That sounds like retail price, I'd wait and while and ask Jason and Desmond.

Enquired Click N Snap and Ah Kheong in Penang thru the phone, both quoted around 1990.
You can get this from Taiwan at NT$15500, that's like RM1640, WITH international warranty. And 72mm filter for NT$700 which is RM74.
