Dear all,

I reading through some "Macro" and "Close up" topic in this forum and I wanted to find out the following:-

1. What is the actual "macro" feature in those normal Digital camera (I mean non D-SLR type). For example Nikon L5 or Panasonic Lumix series.

2. Are those feature just a "close up" only instead of "macro"?

Thanks for sharing.

Those are only close-up not true macro.

They just switch the focusing system to focus closer than normal.

I don't think there are any compact cameras that have 1:1 macro reproduction.

CM might be able to correct me tho.

Nah, I dont know of any compact camera that will do 1:1.

Forget about "super macro" features on most cameras, they wont get you to 1:1. For example, with my FZ-50 on "macro" mode, at 35mm, it will focus on something bout 2 cm away from the front element, but you only get 0.14 magnification.
