Oh you could either get a good telescope... (which will cost a bomb..) or otherwise.. a sturdy tripod.. (which i dont have any now..) with your tele lens... and long exposure with low ISO too..
can always give it a shot.. no harm trying... :P

Wouldn't a long exposure blow out the photo with the moon's light?

Not if you are using a dark aperture, it depends.
Make sure you don't overexpose the moon though or you'll lose all the texture.
ok. got the actual time already.
7.20pm till 9.23pm.
it came out in yesterday e-newspaper.
Aug 28 to see lunar eclipse
KUALA LUMPUR: Astronomy enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view a total lunar eclipse on Aug 28 that will last for an hour at dusk.
A statement from the National Space Agency (Angkasa) said the eclipse could only be observed from 7.20pm to 8.24pm.
After that, the moon leaves the Earth’s umbral shadow (the region where the Earth blocks all direct sunlight from reaching the moon).
Though the eclipse will last until 9.23pm, it cannot be observed seen as the moon will be in the penumbra (less dark shadow).
“The National Planetarium will provide a few telescopes for the public to observe the total lunar eclipse on Aug 28 at the main entrance,” it said yesterday.
The statement also said Angkasa would organise activities related to the event at the planetarium from Aug 21 to Aug 28.
Those interested can contact the planetarium at 03-22734301/4303/5484 or go to www.angkasa.gov.my/planetarium.
