:D

This is the first time I'm trying out the styrofoam plate diffuser in a low-light situation. I know nuts about lighting, so I'd appreciate any comments and critiques on the following. Is the lighting harsh? Is this normal when shooting with flash under low-light conditions?

4590

4591

4592

And also, I've noticed using the diffuser produces an orangy warm tone to the pictures which I've corrected here coz I shot in RAW. CM (if you're reading this), do you experience a similar thing? :?

Thanks.

Lighting in 1 and 3 is fine, 2's a bit harsh though. The butterfly's head is totally blown out, and there's some shadows.

Nope I dont get an orange cast, perhaps it's a problem specific with your styrofoam plate brand. :P

It's a little harsh, but nice and sharp - I like it!

If you find the flash harsh the best thing to do is use a narrower aperture! You also get the bonus of more DoF.

Thanks for the comments. Points noted.

Well, maybe I need to try with some other styrofoam plates :D

Haha, it's really cheap and easy to do! But be forewarned, it'll attract alot of curious onlookers :D
