Wow! Cheers to both the photographer and Raynox for a fine series of high mag macro.......

Is it difficult to handhold at this magnification?

I think the flash is too harsh. Try to diffuse the flash light next time. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

Thanks. :) Yes ofcourse, it's extremely hard. All shots were either taken using the camera's EVF or the LCD, though with dragonflies I usually use to LCD so I can stay further away from them. Manual focus, focusing done by moving the camera back and forth. :rasta:

Yeap I agree, I'm currently limited to just the built in unit, forgot to bring along a piece of tissue paper to use as a diffuser.

Get a proper macro lens for that money, haha.

Danke greEn-V, qqmeng, and noruazumi. Shooting dragonflies takes a ton of patience, and persistence. Give it a try sometime. :)

From my experience, dragonflies can usually be found nearby running water, be it a lake, river, stream, or a drain. Look for them resting on sticks. Best time to shoot are around 11 or late in the afternoon. Shooting dragonflies takes lots of patience, stand next to a spot youve seen it perched, and just wait for it to return back. To shoot that picture above I sat in the sun for half an hour. :D

Goodluck, post any results youve got!

Nice work.

Is there a specific reason to shoot dragonflies at the times recommended by you above CM ? For butterflies they recommend early morning when the butterflies' wings are still damp.

It's been said that they're the least active then, and so you'll have increased chances of shooting them.

Here's more raynox poison,
